Leather Footware - Nikwax or G-Wax?

Just WD40 works well on my leather walking boots, which get used lots in long wet grass and other vegetation. It also very effectively to 'water-proofs' the laces.

    Well Tempered 400 Royale turntable

Thanks misterdog, much better photo. Unusually long and spindly for sure!

    Well Tempered 400 Royale turntable

Regarding the 16" arm, I'm wondering if that applies to its overall length and perhaps having an effective length of around 12". Just a feeling from from seeing the photo, but not easy to judge given the angle of view.

    IOM TT 2015

Indeed, a full week of awesomeness. Due to uncompromising career and family commitments, I only managed once to get to the TT, in !965, and still have vivid memories of the spectacle and thrill today.

    KEF Speakers?

I owned Kef 107/2's during the 1990's and they sounded superb, powered by 500 watts/channel of Sony Esprit (900 series) bi-amplification. They gave the best sounds I've had in my room until the current (active) speakers, which even so don't do some things as well as the Kef's did.

What Japanese made Turntable you having?

Hi timeout, I'm a longtime fan and owner of the better late 1970's/80's Japanese Direct-Drive turntables (eg, Sony PS-X9 & TTS-8000, Denon DP-80 & DP-75, Technics SP-10/2 etc), but most Japanese tonearms from the same period, with a very few notable exceptions, were quite poor/not so good.

    B&W 800D

Regarding JBL K2 9800 speakers, similar to valve amplifiers, they definitely need to be auditioned by the potential owner. Some 4 year ago I lived with a pair for 6 months and found they had a 'bloom' and a very restricted low bass, which meant they ultimately had to go. I replaced them with ATC...

Nigel and Claridge's.....they don't like bitty.

I think witnessing a baby being breast fed should give one a rather warm feeling, wherever it is taking place. Am I being 'normal' or strange?

2014 Formula 1 Season Thread (part II)

IanW, I'm not sure whether Lewis is 'having a bad run of reliability' as you describe it, but he was certainly fortunate to escape injury from his last two 'poor reliability' issues.

    High-end 12" tonearms: what's out there?

Last year I researched the market for a modern 12" tonearm at a realistic price point, suitable to my turntable project. My shortlist of candidates was: 1) SME 312S 2) Audio Origami PU7-12 3) Kuzma Stogi Ref 313 All three provide adjustment of Azimuth, which I feel is a definite bonus...

    What excuse do you have...

My excuse is that I much prefer active speakers. I've not given a moments thought to stand-alone amps and speakers since getting some actives 3 years ago. Cheers.

Ortofon's MC Anna and 12" arms

Regarding the highlighted opinion above, I find ithe sled method more affective as it offeres better consistency of adjustmnent. Regardng it not being easier is plain wrong or just silly.
