Just get yourself something easy to set up with a properly thought out hung suspension - maybe a nice finish Systemdek 11X or 11X900 and put an acrylic platter on it. If you don't play vinyl much then there is not much point on paying too much for a replacement.

+100 - I had one in the mid 70's - utterly dire to keep trimmed - later ones probably better , sounded good enough.

:rolleyes: Have you ever tried - suggest you try first - I was of the same opinion until I tried my first about 3 years ago. Beolab 6000 , Beocord 5000 , Beomaster 5000 , Beovox CX100 , Beoplay H2. All as good as any equivalents.

I don't know why the motor would need any shielding as my 11X900 certainly caused no problem with electromagnetic interference.

Bias force is always a compromise - there is no such thing as perfect - it will vary with type of stylus , downforce - the linear speed - the groove modulation - the cleanliness of the records - the amount of stylus wear - absolutely no such thing as perfect for all instances.

The 2 little caps go across the switch terminals - sometimes directly attached, to stop switch thumps.

Bargain

SWW charged me £600+ a year on a 1 bedroom flat when I bought it in 2014 - put in a meter ultra rapid and saw my bills go to £45/quarter.

Simple circuit ,so easy to build onto terminal strips - did it for my 11X900.

I'm convinced a big problem with the LPT is the confined internal space and lack of ventilation around hot components - had one where the problem turned out to be just a fractured resistor.
