    Chord Qutest question ...

I'm in the same camp regarding resisting the LPS. Mainly because the DAC sounds detailed, fluid and is very enjoyable. Notably better than the DAC in the SuperUniti that preceeded it. Do let us know how you get on with the LPS. I'm very curious.

    Chord Qutest question ...

Good decision. Here’s a couple of points to note.. 1) I (and others) have found the Qutest to perform better with coax in than usb. I’m not suggesting everyone has found this or it’s definitive, but worthy bearing in mind and potentially experimenting with. 2) 2v out is definitely best for...

    [WTD] Ruark Templar II

I owned Templar II for a few years with Naim kit. They are a very nice, enjoyable speaker, but they do still like a little space, maybe 12-18 inches from the rear wall to get the best from them.

Radio Paradise, Spotify and desktop listening

I work from home and most of my listening happens at my desk. My study system is a modest mixture of old and new. New Macbook Air -> ifi Zen Dac V2 -> Optonica SM-7100 -> Q Acoustics 3010i. Inspired by the recent "FM aerials. Talk to me" thread I thought I'd switch from my usual fare of...

    Moving Magnet Magic!

Thanks Tony, interesting. Mine doesn't have the wafer capacitor. Both my amps have phone stages at 47k ohms but no mention of capacitance is made. The Techie is hooked up to Luxman 505 UX II but I can't find the capacitance the MM stage presents. I do have an Arcam rPhono amp that I can adjust...

    Moving Magnet Magic!

You have inspired me to put my VMS20E on the techie. Its been a while since I've properly used the Ortofon. I'm guessing lovely and smooth but not as dynamic as the 540.

    Moving Magnet Magic!

AT VM540ML is my MM of choice. Not that I've really tried much else. Ortofon VMS20E anyone? I think it is excellent! I am only really able to say that with confidence because I think it is surprisingly close to my DV20XL. The DV wins with fluidity, subtleness and generally gives a little more...

Has the digital out of streamers improved over last 10 years

Thank's everyone. Lots of food for thought there. The primary issue is sometimes I just get a bit fed up when I can't just sit down, spin up the iphone and streaming just works. Sometimes LMS and Ropieee XL aren't seeing each other. Sometimes LMS seems to have disappeared and I need to start...

Has the digital out of streamers improved over last 10 years

Can I buy an inexpensive streamer with digital out that will equal, or better, the performance of my Allo DigiOne Signature / Pi? I'd like it to be a fully baked product that allows streaming from the usual services as well as a NAS, offers a great UI, connects to a Qutest and preferably offers...

[FS] Allo Digione, Rpi, case, sd card, wifi dongle, psu.

I think it can be quite a mission if you aren't slightly technical, or at least genuinely interested in learning. How much of a mission depends on what software you use. Roon combined with Ropieee XL (the latter on the Pi) make for a very easy experience, although Roon has costs associated with...

Recommendations for streamer/DAC/desktop headphone amp for the home office?

I have two pairs of Momentum's and really like them, although they are rarely used these days. I have moved to open-back headphones for a more, umm... , open sound and the ability to wear for much longer without audio fatigue. I now use the Massdrop X Sennheiser HD 6XX headphones. I know they...

Where's my weak link, and where do I go from here?

Surely the start point is to work with a cartridge that matches your amp. With a rega deck and amp the obvious place to begin is with the rega cartridges. However, much depends on where you want to take this system. You could upgrade the amp to better drive the LS50s which will reveal more...
