Hi Tony,
I have a genuine Sure V15 III Supertrack plus with the original psudo carved wood box and cardboard sleeve.
Alhough it has the original stylus, this will need replacing as the diamond parted company with the cantilever quite a while back. It was working perfectly up to that point...
I said in my first post, #10 on this thread, that originally I was going to make a T cable using the Mogami cable for my Ittock but I ended up buying an Ekos SE which came with a Linn supplied Mogami T-cable so I didn't need to in the end.
I posted the pictures in #14 to help identify how the T...
@Craig B I would agree 100% with using the correct Din plug numbering as you show above.
Ground is always pin 2 on 3 pin and 5 pin Din connectors. I only referred to pin 3 being ground to tie in with the Excel table above sorry for any confusion.
I think the first pic I posted was a bit...
I found the pics of the genuine T cable but unfortunately the all important one of the din connector is not very clear. I think these came from the Lejonklou forum if I remember correctly.
There is also a useful truth table in Excel comparing the new cable with the old Ittock pinout but I...
@jagdesign I think I have some pics of the din plug with the lid off and each phono plug with the covers removed. I was considering making one once but then bought an Ekos SE with latest T Cable.
I will see if I can find them for you.
The concluding part – please try to stay awake.
I continued running switch on/off cycles using the Naim transformer for a total of 200 cycles monitoring the temperature rise on the switching transistors and the 220R TO220 resistors. The transistor temperature stayed the same at around 36C...
Many thanks to @Sanj250 who sold me an Ekos SE arm in new and unused condition at a very good price. Sanj was a real pleasure to deal with and is a very open and good communicator. The item was very well packed and the transaction completed smoothly and safely. I would highly recommend Sanj.
Caution!.. Long and Rambling Post.
After experimenting with the discharge resistors I looked at all the other components in the discharge circuit and despite the severe damage found the only other failed components were the two discharge switching transistors TR1 and TR4 in my sketch (Q3 and Q4...
HI D3savage,
I have been doing extensive testing on the power supply and I am quite certain the cause of the burnout in my 555PS DR has nothing to do with the amount of power taken by the NDS. The issue is the discharge circuit on the analogue supply which although connected at all times should...
Here are three graphs captured from the Spice simulation of the 555PS discharge circuit. It is possible to graph any of the voltages and currents in the simulation but it soon becomes very cluttered if you put it all on together. The simulation captures 8 seconds of data – 2 seconds with the...
Not sure if this is how to post a link to a file but this should be the operational file for the LTSpice schematic shown above.
To view it and run it you will need to download and install the free LTSpice program from Analog Devices.com - well worth having...
Hi Guys,
Firstly an apology to those who have been helping me or read this thread and wondered how the story ends. Unfortunately I had to put this to one side for the last couple of months due to other unavoidable commitments but I’m back on the case now.
Thanks to JPK for providing the Naim...
Unfortunately I don't have a 500PS and I'm just going by the picture but it looks like the wiring goes directly to the capacitor board near the third set of caps from the back. Its definably a 220R resistor so I still think it must be to do with the discharge circuit as that would be a very...
Hi hp1,
I'm not sure if you mean the manual on/off switch or the thermal switch fitted to the resistor. I would expect they are both fully rated for the inrush.
My point was that should the transistor circuit fail in the 500PS discharge circuit then the resistors will overheat and operate the...
