Gravel is fine if you have a threshold. There’s very little spill if you have a 1m to 2m threshold of cobbles or similar. Porous too…. Arguably more secure too as you hear people on your drive plus casual thieves scouting around tend to avoid gravel drives.

Voting Green here (again), there have been Green wins in the south of Trafford which is mostly a Tory stronghold. With Graham Brady standing down I’m hopeful the Tories will get the boot in the GE.
That makes sense….we get no explanation as to the reason my wife is on the list, even our GP isn’t sure. As I mentioned she’s somewhat immunosuppressed but not seriously, it’s probably due to a relatively minor thyroid condition…but she seems to be included automatically and the GP doesn’t...

Superb. It’s a must read for anyone thinking about voting Tory. Quite how anyone can get us out of the mess we’re in though… It needs the country to wake up to what’s happened and a real leader to emerge with a strong vision and execution over many years.
If the Tories do as Hunt says…abolish NI - then state pensions will be funded from income tax which many pensioners will pay too. Rob Peter to pay Paul or better still rob Peter to pay Peter.
Certainly in a manual I use engine braking. When I think about how I drive my auto, I use a combination of engine and brakes on long downhills, so this is a combination of paddles and left pedal. I agree about being concerned about overheating the pads…plus coating my wheels too much in dust...
Modern driving advice is often that we should use brakes for reducing speed. The thinking is that descending a long hill using engine braking stresses the transmission and that it’s cheaper and easier to replace brakes than vs an auto box. I certainly use the paddle shifter when on ice, though...
