    The Curse of Ferrofluid

It’s a pain to take out. I’ve done Celestion tweeters that had lost sensitivity due to the stuff hardening over the years. I reassembled with no goo (!) and got treble back.

    Classic Revox anyone?

Have a look at their website: they sell classic stuff, but it doesn’t come cheap! https://revox.com/europe/classic/classic-products

    Favourite Miles Davis Albums?

Yes I love classic jazz. Not especially the fusion kind, although I did like Uzeb back in the early 80’s.

    Favourite Miles Davis Albums?

I do not like Miles Davis particularly – I bought Kind of Blue just to know what the reviewers were talking about in the late 80’s. So I have this record and that’s it. It’s alright, but the recording leaves much to be desired. No way this will be used as a dem record.

Old and new Mini next to each other

Uuuugly, as Steve Jobs put it when the iMac was released. I was overtaken by a BMW Mini on the motorway yesterday. Actually it’s not a mini anymore, it’s much bigger than my own ‘normal’ car. Customers for those? It seems that they are German car lovers nowadays who buy them. They race with...

    Love for Cyrus?

    Christmas Wine III

Whose do you get? Cave de Lugny? Yes. But that’s because my wife’s grandfather was a viticulteur there. The village is not far.

    Christmas Wine III

I like our Chardonnays. I have my favourite, have had it for 30 years. Mâcon Lugny Les Charmes. Cheap (here) and reliable.

My beans are not industrial. I get them locally.

    Bean To Cup Coffee Machine

I steer well clear of those odd contraptions. I either do Nespressos (they can be very good) or French press, in which case I grind my beans with a manual grinder. Or if in a hurry with an electric one, but then at the expense of some flavour. Anyway, each time one proud owner of those prepared...

    Technics SL-1200G

Do turntables really get better than this? A lovely deck. If Pro-Ject made it (I doubt they could) it would cost considerably more. A bargain.

    Quad 306 set up

Glad you found this incredibly well-preserved set. Well done.

Phonosophie No3 turntable, Naim Aro, Linn Arkiv

Too much for a Thorens turntable really.

    Thorens TD150 Hum / Buzz

I know. Been into hi-fi for 40 years, the RB300 was an exception.
