My Tannoys sound awful when "cold"

Having used some single driver speakers (full range) I have made similar experiences. Usually it took one song for the cone or the spider behind the cone to warm and loosen up to sound their best.

    Tinnitus - need tone controls

If the upper frequencies seem to be too strong for you or bothering you, I would just take one or two sheets of (clean) Toilet Paper and Scotch tape it over the tweeter, below the driver cover. Cheap and easy reversible.

    EAR 834P value

The build in SUT is pretty crappy. You will be off much better with an external SUT such as a Cinamag.

    Tidy Turntable Photographs

I believe the TT dates back to the 80's. Designed by George Merrill in the USA who did a lot of AR TT mods and put all off his modding experience into this table when he designed and build it. http://vinylnirvana.com/merrill-turntables-mods/...

    Used CD player recommendation

Well, had a Cary Audio 308T for a long time and really enjoyed the tubed/valved output stage. However, it recently stopped playing and it looks as a part on the servo board has gone wacko. Sending it back to the US for a possible repair is out of the question. So I am looking for a good...

    VPI 16.5

I usually put the cleaned LP on a drinking glass to dry and then put them in a new and clean sleeve.

    VPI 16.5

I had borrowed a VPI 17 many years ago to clean my first 600 LPs. I then bought a VPI 16.5 and prefer the 16.5 since it is smaller and I can clean the LP by hand moving the brush, wiggle it and applying some pressure. I did install a 4 inch cooling fan on mine so I can clean as many LPs as I...

    Woo Audio WA3 headphone amp?

The Woo 3 is an OTL design and works best when the impedance is higher. Good think on an OTL design is that you don't have any output transformer in the signal patch that degrade the sound. Even the best output transformers costing many hundreds GBP will degrade the sound somewhat. Using my...

    Woo Audio WA3 headphone amp?

I paid about that much for my used one. If you don't like it you always can sell it for the same price.

Haven't checked with them yet, but my feeling is that the UK distributor would be the more expensive option.
