The Endless Coloured Ways - The Songs of Nick Drake

Anyone else caught up with this yet? I fully expected this to be just another Nick Drake album, just to be politely filed away with all the others that have gone before. But it's so much more. Katherine Priddy's stunning 'I Think They're Leaving Me Behind' and John Grant's extraordinary...

Lana Del Rey - Did you know there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd.

It's a white vinyl copy, which was a pre-release order option from her website. It's a good, quiet pressing which makes a change in this day and age.

Lana Del Rey - Did you know there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd.

Anyone else finding this one hard to take off the turntable? I'd assumed her greatest moment had come and gone with 'NFR!', but it seems I was wrong. Astonishing stuff!

    Sarah McLachlan

She's much loved in the Worcester household too, with the adoration kicking-in with the incredible 'Fumbling' album. The releases on Quiex are stunning, particularly the 'Fumbling/Freedom Sessions' double. The are a good number of soundboard bootlegs out there too that are worth referencing.

Audiolab 9000 cd transport and amp

At £2k for the integrated Amp/DAC, and £1k for the CDT this isn't crazy money when compared to some of the stupid-bonkers price tags floating around these days. I'd definitely like to give this pairing a listen.

    Cambridge Audio Azur 851N

I'm absolutely pleased as punch with mine. I run it through a Naim DAC and SN2, and the sound quality is stunning, as is the functionality, ease of use and display graphics. I bought mine as a low-risk introduction to streaming, with a plan to eventually move it on and acquire an NDX2. Its...

The Ever-Changing Value of 'Wife Pounds'

Although evident in most Grown Boy's Hobbies, the world of Audio seems to be the most prevalent in the liberal use of 'Wife Pounds'. From various discussions I've had with other downtrodden males, the average rate used seems to be in the region of £2.25 Actual = 1 'Wife Pounds'. I'm even aware...

    Introducing the Amazing Compact Disc

I like both formats, and I enjoy the tactile ritual of playing vinyl although for serious listening I prefer the convenience and clarity of CD. The CD vs Vinyl debate will never be won......it's comparable to religion, or favourite football teams. But I think the burning question that needs to...

    The most boring band?

Coldplay are an obvious given. I'd also like to share special mentions for Biffy Clyro and Status Quo.

    Glastonbury 22

You make an extremely valid point, Tony. You can't argue with facts. (Unless you're Boris Johnson of course).

    Glastonbury 22

Absolutely bang on with McCartney's performance. I'm not an out-and-out fan of his, but credit where it's due.......it was astonishing. And to think he's almost as old as the average age of the membership of this board! Sure puts it into perspective.

    RSD - Watcha got?

I got the Be Bop Deluxe album too, although at £46 I thought it was pushing the boundaries a touch. According to the store owner, I took the last of 4 copies that he had at 9:30am, so it appears to have been quite sought after. Having given it a run through, I have to say that it's very good...

Record Store Day - Drop 2 Tomorrow

Should be a good day for it! Record Store Day Drops 2022 - June 18 | RECORD STORE DAY Anyone in for anything? I especially want the Be Bop Deluxe and Field Music titles.

    Alan White R.I.P

Looking back, it's quite remarkable how he seamlessly replaced Bruford, who I always thought was a more technically adept drummer along with some of his other contemporaries such as Carl Palmer, Pierre van der Linden and Florian Pilkington-Miksa. The man sure could keep it together though. A...

    Any good festivals?

A New Day Festival is a must for me. Stellar bands, great surroundings and a chilled audience. Even SWMBO enjoys it. I've attended every one, and this years is a corker: A New Day Festival - Home | Facebook
