    Britain, before recycling bins

And off the road at 10 years old unless you get a vintage certificate which costs.

    Classic TT/arm combinations

I have a Townshend Rock II with RB250 rewired and modded by J7 with a VdH DDT-II special, an LP12 with GH228 and V15 III, a Luxman PD264 with Acos Lustre and MP11 and a Planar 3 with R200 and Quintet Bronze. All sound different but I like all of them.

    Fave "Live" Albums

If You Want Blood. Tokyo Tapes Live and Dangerous. Exit Stage Left. 25 Live@ 25. First 5 that came to mind.

Oh the fun of a cheap second system

In my shed I have a Luxman integrated made in about 1980, it was being thrown out so was free. A pair of Usher S-520s I paid $250 for and a free Sony CDplayer. So good especially for the outlay.

What is the value of your hifi compared to your annual salary / income?

I'd say 10% of my annual salary, more to replace at todays prices.

What's the highest-value item in your Discogs collection?

Marillion - Marbles at AU $652.

    Recommend Me A Fishing Car

I used to have a Ford Fiesta for fishing trips, roof rack required for rod bag though. I even used to go fishing on a Kawasaki GPX600R, not easy I'll tell you.

"Spend x% of your turntable budget on the cartridge"?

I paid 300 quid for my TT in 1986, brand new. I now have a VdH DDT-II fitted. Where am I going with this? The price is not the main factor. The TT is a Townshend Rock mkII with a RB250 fettled by j7 at Audio Origami.

Musical Fidelity X-LPS: any good nowadays?

I had the v3 with little pinkie power supply and cap upgrade, my DIY Akitika replaced it.

As a tribute to Max Townshend: a discussion of Max's greatest designs

I believe the Rock TT was very special indeed. I bought one in 1986 over an LP12, I still use it on a regular basis and to be honest the only TTs I would think of replacing it with are the Rock Reference or a mk5 Rock, both of which are nigh on impossible to find now. the only maintenance I have...

Best S/H Integrated Amp for under £200

I picked up a Musical Fidelity A1 for $100, that is about 60 pounds.

‘Great’ Albums that you’ve never listened to?

I was born in 1958, I know of the bands, but have had not much interest in their output, obviously heard them on the radio growing up in the 70s, I favoured Eric Clapton, Queen, Deep Purple, and the like. I have expanded my listening material as I've grown older, but still can't listen to The...

    Camel 50th

Snow Goose was the first CD I ever bought.

‘Great’ Albums that you’ve never listened to?

Pet Sounds or any LP by the Beach Boys come to think of it. White Album, Revolver, actually the only Beatles LP I have heard is Sgt. Pepper. Many others I am sure.
