Remember how much R&D went into the CDP back then. No surprise some of the earlier higher end players are so good. Bye and large, future players are driven far more by the company's need to come up with newer models for marketing purposes, than by them actually finding a better way to do things...

Don't know about being the first, but the Extrema has no caps in the Xover, only inductors. They sound awesome but are an absolute bitch to drive properly.

IIRC Cream spent 10 years on the edge of breakup, hence the farewell concerts joke. No surprise about ego wars. EC was not exactly easy peasey either from what I used to read in the NME (or was it Melody Maker?). <Shock> Do you suppose drink and drugs could have been the problem? <Horror>

I have his Why Doncha album, the title track is a belter, the rest is so-so IMO. Didn't know he was a twat though.

I'd take White Room out of those.
