Lid up or down when playing vinyl ?

Like many owners, I have to remove the lid from my Well Tempered tt. as it’s not hinged. On my daughters Rega the lid is just lifted when in use. Lids definitely down when tt’s not in use. I have read some manufacturers recommend removal of the lid when in use.

    records you regret selling

A MFSL copy of With The Beatles, I ripped it to CD and thought I had plenty of WTB copies. I think a good copy sells for around £250 now.

    No McCartney III thread?

Like Stunsworth, I had a listen on Qubuz last night, it's a while since I listened to any new McCartney stuff, I thought it was OK, don't suppose i'll buy a physical version but will listen again.

Remembering John Lennon who would have been 80 today. I’ll spin a couple of his tunes and toast the event.

Buchardt A500 speakers - Game changer?

They are certainly very interesting, I would like to test drive them or the larger A700 . One thing I would find hard to come to terms with though is all sources have to be digitised.

Old Git needs help with CD Player choice please

How about an Audiolab 6000CDT, you would need a DAC but the player is a great performer and not too expensive.

    CD player upgrade?

Last year I decided to give the CDs a revival and had to purchase a CD player. My choice after a little research was the Audiolab 6000CDT, I have been very impressed, of course you would need a DAC, but by all accounts the little Audiolab wouldn’t hold back the performance of even a very high...

Experience with DC Offset blocking devices, eg Isotek EVO 3 Synchro - anyone.?

I think you probably need a Puritan PSM136 or 156 . One of them will sort you out.

I have just read your comments and was so tickled by the “jazz cigarette “ , I remember them back in the day, they were a fantastic aide to a better musical experience!

Shahinian Speakers - current and past users - your views

I had a pair of Arcs for over 20 years, until last year I never felt the urge to change. I heard a pair if Q Acoustics Concept 500's and that was that, I'm now happy with them but I still think the Arcs are a great speaker. Best value piece f hi-fi I ever had.

    Audiolab love or hate?

Just to chime in, I am the happy owner of an Audiolab CDT6000. I think it's a great player for the money, I was looking at Hegel's cd player but I can't think it could be ten times better than the 6000 !

    Q Acoustic Concept 500s

Just in case anyone is interested, I got a pair of Concept 500s after hearing them at a dealership. I hadn’t even sat down when the first music started playing, the shop owner was telling me about them and I was half listening to him and the speakers. It turned out to be a very easy choice for...

Thinking of replacing CD player - any recommendations?

I have returned to cd replay recently despite ripping all my discs a few years ago. I used dbpoweramp to rip via my iMac to a Synology NAS. The files are played through an Auralic Aries and a Hegel 360 integrated amp/dac. The CD player is the Audiolab 6000CDT transport, I compared the two...

    Paul McCartney

Yes I was just being silly, I have been a fan since I was 6 or 7 years old ! I haven’t bought much McCartney stuff since Flaming Pie though, but him and his old band mates are still on regular rotation on my stereo !
