    How far would you go?

Thank you wainwj for your detailed write up of the Avalon Remade Speakers. I of course already knew how magnificent they were! You were brave to take a risk with them...however, I took a similar risk when I bought them from Highend Broker in The Netherlands...I was never disappointed, quite the...

Tinnitus and slight hearing loss means goodbye to my beloved system

Yes...I should have mentioned that I was also diagnosed with hyperacusis...this is a high sensitivity to loud and high frequency sounds...it is actually painful and for example...the clashing of plates and dishes is especially unpleasant. I now struggle with louder volume music too.

Tinnitus and slight hearing loss means goodbye to my beloved system

Thank you Mike...yes you are right...it is an excellent CD/DAC setup and quite underrated in my view. But time to move on and it's ok as I'm happy to do so. A couple of family tragedies last year helped to alter my outlook as well...so it all feels right and comfortable with me. I just want the...

Converting US voltage monoblocks to UK voltage

Thanks for the info...much appreciated. The preamp is an Alchemist Forseti apd21a mk11....about 15 years old but sounds pretty damn good. I also love the design...and it was reworked by Tim de Paravicini. I may get it serviced and re-capped at some point Regards Andrew

Converting US voltage monoblocks to UK voltage

Unfortunately I don't have circuit diagrams, etc. and to be truthful...the replies from the company owner were a bit "cagey"...maybe he's just not very forthcoming. I will probably take them to a technician for a good nosey and see what they advise.

Hi Jonathan - as luck would have it, I just posted a similar thread i the DIY Forum, having purchased a pair of US made monoblocks. I too am asking the very same questions as yourself...however, it is helps...I have been using my amps (800w per channel jobbies!) using a pair of step down...
