Avondale Schottky Full Wave Bridge Module.....(Bargain)

Hi, I came across silicon carbide Schottky diodes rated at 650v. I don‘t know if they are suitable for audio. The 30a version is only £3.52 plus VAT. Might be worth a try. Farnell and I think Mouser or RS had them. Cheers Andy.

Avondale Schottky Full Wave Bridge Module.....(Bargain)

Ever since I moved to hard wired smoothing capacitors I have used mains earthing blocks to create a low impedance earth point. At a few pounds each they work well for me… Cheers Andy.

    Buzz from Densen CD player

Hi Alan, I don’t have a diagram for the player and an ailing capacitor was my first thought. I am expecting a stand in player in the next few days so I will open the Densen up and have a look. Cheers Andy.

    Buzz from Densen CD player

All my power leads are star wired into 8 way connecting blocks connected to a single socket. I will remove the lid and see if any earth points are loose or corroded, thanks. Cheers Andy.

    Buzz from Densen CD player

Not sure that ground loops normally develop. I have not changed anything that could cause a loop. I thought Densen service was difficult since ownership changed. So I was contemplating diy. Cheers Andy.

    Buzz from Densen CD player

Hi, I have noticed buzzing from both channels when my cd player is connected to my system. It is faint but wasn’t there before so I guess it is going to get worse. It is there whether the external power supply (DNRG) is on or not. It is not there when the turntable or tuner is switched in. The...

    Negative Teddyreg problem

Thanks gents! The document I used to made the regulators is marked Nov 2008 so it is an early version. I will have a go at finding the manual. Q1 is 2N5460 which was suggested as a good substitute for J74 and Q2 is D45H11. I will recheck the orientation of these. Cheers Andy.

    Negative Teddyreg problem

Hi, I am having difficulty with a negative Teddyreg and wondered if anybody could suggest what might be the cause. I didn’t bother with the accelerator. The voltage controlling resistors are adjustable. The components all look to be connected in the right orientation and the joints are good. The...

    Farnell customer service

Generally good but did have a problem logging in to my account a few months ago. A few years ago Farnell sent me an email asking me to open a new account and when I tried to log in a few months ago they had mixed the accounts up and I used their customer services to resolve the problem. It took...

Advice concerning damage to an SE board.

I have just tested both boards with a signal generator and sacrificial speakers. It looks like I have got away with it. Thanks for your input, gents. Regards Andy.

Advice concerning damage to an SE board.

Hmm. Just retested and both resistors now match at 0.3R and 0.4 uH in circuit and the replacement 0.2R and 0.3uH. I am tempted to try without replacement…….

Advice concerning damage to an SE board.

Hi, I have been rebuilding my SE amps, mainly to use Mr. Self’s advice on power supplies and whilst setting the bias the connection from test meter to power supply became disconnected. Before I could turn off the power, smoke appeared from the area of the 0R33 resistor that joins TR14 to the...

More Fishie metalworking help needed! Brass hole needs expanding...

You would need a good sized 3 jaw chuck to hold this. If you could post all the dimensions that would be helpful. It could be set up on a 4 jaw chuck but that would take more time….
