    Passive pre-amps with remote ?

I can't see the point in using a passive between the Eversolo and the Temple monoblocks. Set them to their lowest gain setting and not much noise will get through from the digital preamp section. I use an RME into mine and never noticed a problem. Nonetheless, RCA > XLR is an easy cable to find...

    Passive pre-amps with remote ?

Steve, if I were in your position (in some ways I am) I would want to try the Eversolo A8 to use as a streamer, dac and preamp. I understand it's an analogue preamp stage so, unlike with most dacs, you'll be attenuating the noise as well as the volume at the high levels of attenuation needed...

    Passive pre-amps with remote ?

Steve, if you have a Tisbury on the way, try it first and see what you think. Why is a remote so important? Remind me what power amp, do you actually need a passive, and what is deficient in the Quad?

Has anyone bought a product because of a recommendation on ASR?

The Genelec 8331s are a point source and sound very good to my ear. What surprised me most is how similar they sound to my main system (vintage amp, not vintage speakers but 10in driver crossover-less design).

Decibel X. I’m sure you’ll tell me it’s useless. Either way, it’s showing 26 average right now. My room is partially treated.

Has anyone bought a product because of a recommendation on ASR?

They certainly appear to, given member and manufacturer comments, and appearance is important, I guess. The cry from ASR members is changing now though to “we now take sinad for granted, give us extra like EQ’. It’ll be interesting to see what Topping et al do next. I suspect I’ll be quoting...

You must have unearthed an outlier circle of the sect, the majority fawn over the RME.

Now it is your cash and sat on my shelf. Sounds like nothing is all I want from a preamp.

Has anyone bought a product because of a recommendation on ASR?

Yes and no. Yes: Topping DX3Pro+ and D70Pro Sabre (YouTube also influenced here) No: MHDT Pagoda, the worst measuring dac of all time on ASR. Part of this was a perverse experiment to see if the measurements made any real difference to listening pleasure - they don't.

    Which Naim Pre-amp?

Agreed. The 52 is a very good preamp, but so is a Supercapped 32.5/72, more engaging than any PSU(s) on an 82. I bought a Supercap as a stepping stone to a 52 but just enjoyed it with the 32.5 instead.

    DAC yes/no

Maybe the Saturn, like all good CD players, has a good dac implementation, a solid output stage, low signal paths and dispenses with extra boxes and cabling. My Densen sounded better on its own, any dac making it sound like a worse version of itself (and that has proper BNC connection, unlike...
