Gotham 10652 is 4,5mm diam. Inner insulation is PE, NOT crappy PVC: http://www.gotham.ch/en/index.php?section=docsys&cmd=301_details&id=28 also avaiable from DIYhifisupply and other http://press.diyhifisupply.com/catalog-signal-cable-and-speaker-cable/

The Beo 5 is great artwork, genuine quality, secure long distance reach, but not so handy for everyday use, and time consuming to programming, not simple transfer: "read and learn"

still it seems that everyone else are only capable of making "valve sound";) valves can do some things that transistors cannot, but it cost much more to make tube amps right, hence the bad reputation "valve sound"

I don't like "valve sound" as much as I don't like "transistor sound" or "class D sound" Do you suppose John will use tubes input in his VFET amps to add the colouration "valve sound"

of course I speak my own opinion, its also about synergy in the whole chain of course, but a good tubestage can do something magic with a wide open 3D soundstage, and the Ncore's are able to raise to whatever comes in. Not many really good balanced tube preamps with huge PSU's around, but I'm...

the Ncore maybe yes, but it requires some more from the attached gear, overall a little too much gain are better than a little too little gain

By the way if you are listening at around -25 db I really don't think you should remove it

I recommend just cover the whole resistor with solder/heat and "roll" it of, the resistor easily breaks( or PCB) if both ends are not heated at the same time, removal of rest of solder after is easy and very important

    MDAC First Listen (part 00100100)

I have removed mine,( and put it back in a couple of times ) although it works fine with MDAC and sensitive speakers I get the feeling of a slight loss of dynamics with speakers of 90db and lesser sensitivity. some passive preamps and low output devices are really disastrous and not able to...

would be great with a tube input/ mosfet output amp later, but price would hardly be very much lower than for the VFET amps if total numbers of amps are reasonable Both Hypex Ncore and Holton Mosfet amps benefit sonically from a good tube preamp

    The Hypex nCore build thread

no problem to bolt onto a heat sink just because its circular, heat sink doesn't have to be;) long mounting bolts even applied with the Ncore if I remember correct

So end of discussion, its perfect, Julf made his final verdict the link to the tread is for others interested in changing something truly perfect in some direction.... or not
