Standmount Recommendations

During the next couple of years I'd like to try out 3-4 different standmounts in an effort to learn more and figure out what my actual preferences are. But most importantly anything that gets me gains on these rather vague fronts:

1. Goosebumps
2. Foot tapping
3. Non-fatiguing
4. Genre agnostic
5. Immersive

Happy to explore between £2-10k of any flavour, tiny 2.5m x 4m listening room, so ideally leaning towards the smaller size. Any suggestions? Thanks

(FWIW: Had loads of speakers under the £1k bracket, Dali, Q Acoustics, Kef etc. most decent enough. The Neat Petite Classic where a major step up over these, quite an eye opener (as you'd hope for double the cost). Then the Dynaudio Heritage Special a step up still though I eventually sold as they were a bit too peaky in the presence region for my tastes - but boy did they excel at some stuff. Also tried the latest Buchardt active speakers which I thought were the ones then 2 months later realised they weren't giving me goosebumps, at all. Not sure why. Current set-up: Eversolo A8 > Merson Frerot DAC > Hegel H390 > Neats / KEF KC62 sub)

Sonus Faber, various models, Minima Amator II, Electa Amator III, Guarneri , Diapason Adamantees , Franco Serblin Accordo would be my choices (combined with a decent sub)
All of these fit your criteria IMO and also have the build quality, fit and finish of a piece of fine furniture.

Monitor Audio Gold 100 5G or Platinum 100 3G.

Don't just write them off as "bright" without listening to them, just because they use metal drivers.

Take a look at the Totem Fire V2's. I had them for a short time but only because I moved up to the floor standing Metal V2's. Very musical with all genres.

Second hand pair of Proac Response 1SCs - saw off everything else I tried for nearly 20 years - an absolute classic

Never heard them, but was always interested in trying the Penaudio Cenyas - there's a pair in the classifieds at the moment...

I have Proac DB1s because they suit the size of my room, however, if I had more room I’d have Neat XLS, favourite standmount I’ve heard. I’d also audition Totem Signature 1.

Graham LS5/9s are really nice if you like the BBC sound.

Cheers BB

Russell K 50 or 100.

Very engaging presentation.

2.5m x 4.5m is surely very small. I do not have experience with a room that's limited to 2.5m on one side, and if the speakers are going to be placed on the long wall, it's going to be nearfield listening. Personally I wouldn't spend so much money on speakers if the room is very small.

Failed to notice room dimensions - absolutely no way Proac 1SCs would work in there

The LS3/5 suggestion above would be a lot closer to the mark - Falcon do some rather nice ones as well

ProAc - a variety of models to try. D2 and SM100 are common favourites. SM discontinued but come up every now and again 2nd hand.

The DB1 and D2R are on the list already, thanks. Never considered the SM100 though. Thanks

Just went down the SF rabbit hole, think the Amator II and Accordo could be perfect, man they look nice. Seems like the SF are touch more coloured than the the FS? (Which I'm open to) Will look into the Diapason later, cheers.

I would audition Audiovector and Harbeth.

I came close to getting some Arrete R1s off eBay but in the end their visual look put me off. Not that they're ugly or owt. From what I understand cracking highly resolving, musical speakers.

Never considered the Harbeth. Would they be able to do the whole gamut... from rock to orchestral to metal to acoustic to EDM etc? Thanks

My brother in law uses the Boenicke W5SE’s in a room much the same size as yours and against the long wall. Of three of us who have these speakers he probably has the best sound.
