Is there such a thing as a snow foam attachment for a regular garden hose on decent pressure mains water? I'm not looking to get a pressure washer (another thing to store in the garage) but would like the benefit of snowfoam to lift the dusty loose crap off the car before washing. If they are all crap i will not bother, but was just a thought.

My Dad uses this (his Karcher died and he can't be bothered to replace it) and says it works well (uses AG Polar Blast)

Mix the snowfoam with warm/hot water, that's key I've found as it always foams better

However, my detailing pal has a few of these (uses them mainly for alloys etc) and says they work really well...

Thanks for the links. Considering the second one, I may grab some foam and just try putting it through a regular pressure sprayer (which I have in the garage) and if that fails completely, buy the one in your first link.

Next question, what is good for getting crap out from around buttons etc in the interior ('New' car cleaning). I'm thinking some form of heavy foam that I can spray on, then scrub the crap out of with a small brush and the foam keeps is suspended for easy wipe away. Is there such a product?

Thanks

I'd be a bit careful about not rubbing the legend off the buttons or, in the case of 'sort touch' plastics, rubbing the 'soft' finish off.

Detailing brushes:

All purpose cleaner:

Spray bottle:

This is what I use and if stuff is really bad; then a small steam cleaner comes in really handy...

Just have lots of terry towels ready to wipe up the excess etc:

Quiet in here :D

Had Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen 3 all-season tyres fitted to a set of OEM Style 66s yesterday (17x8s all round)

Just need to decide on what colour to have them refurbed:

OEM Silver:

Platinum silver:

Or BMW Ferric Grey:

TBH, I'm thinking OEM BMW Silver TBH; keep Ferric grey for my summer wheels etc

I've also just had the car back from my pals body shop; rear Steelmate parking sensors fitted & painted:

Sounder hidden in the rear arm rest cubby:

They work brilliantly :)

Bit of a crap picture; but de-tinted the windows too; for me, they work well on the touring, but on the saloon, it was just too dark:

It needs a thorough detail, clay barring and polish now; so will do that when I get chance and then it's ready for our jaunt away to Anglesey in a few weeks and after that; it'll be time to swap it onto the 'winter' wheels etc :)

Back onto OEM 17" Style 66 alloys wheels with Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen3 all season tyres; the 18" alloys have sold

It's also been washed, rinsed, clay barred, washed again, dried and then polished/waxed with Chemical Guys Blazin Banana spray wax :D

Just waiting for the OEM BMW centre caps and M badges to arrive now

Off to Anglesey on Wednesday for a good few nights, so looking forward to taking it on its first journey. Hopefully via Horseshoe Pass and down through Betws y Coed ;)

Busy day today in between showers; all 4 wheels off, all brake calipers wire brushed, washed with brake cleaner and then pained enamel silver

Cars filthy and needs a wash; but it's raining so it'll have to stay as it is for now...

Need to get a few dry days so I can do some undersealing and cavity sealing too; got the Bilt Hamber stuff in, just no break in the weather!

Wow; no updates for ages in here... Lazy bunch :D

Our new car was collected on Friday; 2015 BMW F31 325D M Sport

I've already collected and fitted 18" Style 400s with winter tyres; the black 19" Style 403s are to be sold on as I hate black wheels, don't like their design and 19s on RFS are naff on our local roads...

It's filthy, but this morning I gave the interior a full wipe down with APC and got into the nooks and crannies with the detailing brush; all glass cleaned with AGs Fast Glass and for now, my old F01 7 series floor mats are in (just fit) and will do their job until the new BMW ones land sometime later this week

In between rain showers I've snowfoamed the exterior, cleaned the wheel arch liners best I can and cleaned/treated the exterior glass and treated the tyres with Gyeon tyre gel

19s off, 18" winters on:

Snowfoamed ;)

I like to keep my car clean but the appalling weather we’ve been having simply means that I don’t bother with it until the rear number plate is almost illegible.

Mine got a splash and dash during a shower so that I didn't have to rinse it. Looks better. Like jezzer above I've been washing lights, numberplates and glass for the last 3 months and ignoring the rest because the 30 mile commute I had leaves the cleanest car looking like an off roader.

A5 coupe owners, any advice on headlamp upgrades? 09 model and either I'm going blind or the lights are on a par with the Never Ready lamps that I had on my pushbike in the 80s. Truly awful on unlit roads, and even on motorways I find myself wondering if they are switched on or have decided to have a rest and go over to sides.

Yeah; isn't helpful this weather!

I generally just do a simple snowfoam, rinse and then dry the glass/wheels and leave it at that... No point in detailing a car in this weather!

Wow, I’ve washed my car about 4 or 5 times in its 9 year life so far, granted the dealer did wash it at each service during the first couple of years.

I was going to wash the van during that really cold spell as you couldn't read either plate but the auto car wash was closed due to being froze up/ice, then we got that rain that cleaned the plates so I haven't bothered, it is minging though and desperately needs a going over I just don't seem to find either the time or somewhere to do it around here.

Just wipe the plates and lights, a mate of mine got a ticket for an illegible rear plate. His protestations that it had been clean when he left the house and he'd done 400 miles that day on filthy motorways fell on deaf ears. Cop must have been short of collars that month. Only takes 2 minutes, especially now that it's wet and above freezing.
