EWA pfm tour: ABCaudio demo kit

Not sure the LS-40 is the way to go for you, I have both cables and the 80 has tighter and more controlled bass. Frankly, excess bass is better treated by positioning speakers if at all possible, but if not, you get into tricky territory, as there is usually some compromise. The starting point cables might solve your bass issue, but then you will lose the scale, detail and refinement of the LS-80. Still, no harm in trying ?

Has anyone compared the Starting point speaker cables with the LS-40's and 80's and can you give me an idea of the sonic differences?
I had both the 25's and 40's a while ago, now have the 80's and while I love what they do I am trying to tame a bit of excess bass in my square room so am wondering about trying some starting point's or maybe some 40's again which might just help and would give me some idea of what difference is - as I recall the 80's bought, amongst other things, a big increase in bass.. Not sure if the trade off will be something I can live with, but it has to be worth asking what experiences you've all had...

Which speakers (and stands?) are you using?

I am pretty sure that I felt the same as you when I upgraded, and don't want to lose all the '80's bring but before I tried the bungs I was wondering what I could try - I also have a cheap-ish second system that could use some cables, and I was thinking possibly the starting point..

My speakers are bespoke Tannoy Balmorals with iso acoustic gaia feet, front ported and now with foam plugs which have really helped - I've got some denser foam to try when I have a mo..

Hello all. I've recently been steered towards EWA cables, away from Tellurium. From what I've read here the LS-40 would be the better option for my system.

Does anyone feel that the Furutech connectors (spade and Z) are worth the extra £200?

Thanks

I have sent you a PM, best Col

Sounds like a beast is about to be unleashed!!

No John a Gentle Giant, no I started to build it for the Queen Jubilee Party in our close in London , Made speaker also with a 1M x 0.5M x 0.5M box with 12inch Pro Celeston (200W) (spelling naff) and a 8inch Audax copy (100W) with tamed Piezo Tweeter, but as the got built there were f------g heavy 120Kgs each so far.

Then Linda the organizer noticed a filled 12inch hole in the back of one, my finger trouble I cut the hole to big, so I told her it had a hysterectomies and the stiches had not healed up yet , she clump me. eh why? She is good.

I’ve never heard a Piezo tweeter, how do you rate it Col ?

Normally they are harsh not to good, ideal for P.A. but I wired them with Litz and damped it down with 0.47uF 250VAC cap with a 2R7 25W resistor, much improved.

Hello Alan, Colin.

When are the new M100 upgrades due to be available.

I'm still loving my A40 but I'm considering the M100 as an end game passive power amp. Not sure I need it as the A40 is awesome but more is always good. Ha.

Cheers

OK everyone, we have been sending stuff around for over two years now, probably that covers just about everyone who wants a go?

If you are curious, even if you are only a tyre kicker (but can stand the postage), you are still welcome to try an EWA cable. Have a look at the first few posts in this thread to see what is available. I have the mixed box and the LS-40 back here now, and I know where the LS-80 is currently residing.

The mixed box is our 'lower mid-range' 25 series stuff; interconnects (RCA and XLR), and USB. There is also an MCS-5 power cable in there.

The other boxes contain LS-40, and the last LS-80. Contact me if you want a go, otherwise this tour can quietly fade away. It will always be on pfm as a reference for people to do their research. As of February 2022 this thread has been viewed 27,000 times, and the threads specific to speaker cables are even higher!
Hello there.
I know this is an older post but could it be still possible to try a demo ls40 and ls80 please?

I think the more interesting question is why you are motivated to seek them out and poop on them?

Seeking out?

They are very hard to overlook. I think there are about 3 going right now.

Talk about advertising ...

Read my reply in 'hifi pet hates'.

Why don't you take 'em to trade sales because that's what it is at the end of the day.

These threads have been started by individuals who have shared their experiences good or bad with different EWA products. No different than with any other manufacturers products. The fact that people are still renewing a thread, after in some cases over a year since it was started is testimony to the ongoing level of new interest from new people. Hardly advertising. Maybe you should put yourself in pet hates because you very cynical and irritating to genuine members

Well, all but this one.

But in any case, heaven forbid more than one person to express enthusiasm for the same product/company in the same thread on a discussion forum of all places.
Didn’t check who started this one
The forum is here for discussion about hifi as you rightly point out. There are Moderators who will manage content I’m sure any problems would have been highlighted by now. Let’s leave it to them rather than thread crap, it makes everyone’s experience better.
