Not a book on music (though there are music-related stories inside) but I think quite a few of you might find it interesting.

Interesting, a friend of mine makes Art using 'Extinct' objects.

I have just finished reading 'Sing Backwards and Weep' , Mark Lanegan, the quite sad story of abuse and addiction rather than story focused on the songwriting or his musical career.

The only one I read is "How the Beatles Destroyed Rock 'n' Roll" by Elijah Wald. Great book that helps to understand popular music differently and gives a new tools for thinking about music. I advise everyone.

I've been enjoying dipping into Vinyl Freak: Love Letters to a Dying Medium by John Corbett.

It's mostly a compilation of his column from Downbeat magazine sharing his favourite couple of hundred amazing LPs that you've never heard of - fascinating stuff. Plus it comes with a Sun Ra flexi disk :)

Got Rickie Lee Jones' autobiography as a present recently, only dipped in so far, but looks really good

Don't think I could read it. She left an unfortunately indelible impression on me during one of her concerts, where she lambasted her accompanist in a most cruel manner. It's taken me years to be able to even listen to her music again. I most certainly will never attend another live concert of hers, despite her frequent appearances in my area.

With a foreword by The Specials’ Horace Panter, Tales From The Ghost Town collects together rare copies of every fanzine produced in Coventry at that incredible time. With an in-depth review of each, accompanied by covers and inside pages alongside exclusive interviews with their original creators tracked down from across the globe, it is THE definitive record of this unique, punk inspired, explosion of grass roots creativity expressed in cut and paste form."https://fourthdimensionrecords.bigc...nzine-revolution-1979-1985-book-by-alan-rider

My brother and his mates feature quite heavily :)

For my birthday I was given "Lyrics" by Bryan Ferry. As the name suggests, it's a book of his song lyrics. I wasn't sure how well the words would stand up without the music, but they do. Unlike Paul McCartney's "The Lyrics", the Ferry book doesn't give a song-by-song commentary.

Just finished Don Letts’ - There & Black Again. Interesting to read the story of Punk/ Reggae & The Clash from someone so closely involved with that scene. I’ve met Don a few times and I have a lot of respect for the man. The book is definitely worth picking up for anyone interested in that period of our recent cultural history.
