Despite seeing it everywhere I avoided this record for years because the cover is just so awful.
My loss - it's very nice in a late night dim-the-lights kinda way.

Perhaps I should find a copy with the alternative artwork used in a number of countries. Nothing to write home about but it certainly suits the music better. And doesn't feature a marching band dressed in orange.

Heard this great album for the first time a few years ago when the Verve Vital Vinyl reissue came out, played it when I got home with a big stack of records - and never played it again until last week. This time I was really knocked out by it and decided to grab the Acoustic Sounds version I’m playing for the first time now (via the SPU). Probably going to sell my Verve copy now, this one is amazing:

Blimey, I played this last night at concert-levels (the volume kept creeping up it was so intoxicating - 105db peaks:D at 4m).
Amazing block-busting live recording - hugely dynamic and vigorous interpretation.
