Now this was a present, honest. 50th anniversary edition of Rory Gallagher, after Taste fell apart. triple LP, excruciatingly tightly packed. Yes, we all know they’re in it for the money but this is a good’un. Disc 1 is the remasterized 180 gram version, Disc 2 is , in part at least, the original version and Disc 3 is alternative takes, Beeb live versions etc. Interesting to hear Disc 2 as we heard it on our Dansettes at uni, almost bare, empty studio sound, followed by Disc 1, all detail and nuance and positioning, brought out on our present day systems. Rory was bloody ace as a bluesy guitarist but even has a go on the sax on Disc 3.
