Bit of an experiment last night. Stuck my iPhone over the eyepiece of my 'scope (Meade ETX 105) to take this picture of the moon. I'll have to do it properly next time and get a t mount for my proper camera

I bought the Sigma as my Tokina 100mm 2.8 macro has no built in focus motor which is needed for focus stacking with my D850. I checked out all the reviews for the Nikkor AFS 105mm and Sigma HSM 105mm and the general consensus was that the sigma 150mm 2.8 macro is sharper than them all and also gives a greater working distance, although its quite a heavy lens.

Bought a Sigma 150 2.8 macro just over a week ago to try focus stacking with my D850. Haven't done any focus stacking yet but been trying it out as a plain macro lens. These are heavy crops

superb...exceptionally sharp images...you can see every spec of pollen on the bee..very impressive piece of glass, the Sigma..

Good link with top fact of the year for me...the piles under Venice are Alder. I had no idea. Amazing, tho I have found aged alder roots after a flood sometimes, which are nice and gnarly and wondered why the wood was in such perfect condition. Now i know
