Are the stome pillars ancient standing stones or stones made for old gate posts?? Or?
great pic. This is what I 'see' on walks. I'm not much good a 'views' but I sort of see history.

The posts are gate posts ... the track leads from an old lead mining area in fields near Winster to an overnight repository for lead ore (that is still standing pretty much intact) and a 'shanty town' called Islington populated by itinerant lead miners, now disappeared with few discernible traces.
