Brexit: give me a positive effect... XI

One good reason why the rest of the UK should have a vote is security. An independent Scotland could become a Chinese colony as the free spending SNP sell off and lease back assets to reduce the deficit in a bid to rejoin the EU, if it still exists.

You’ve not been keeping up with your kipper tube educational videos- we’ve only been getting the content filtered through one portion of grey matter. At least the Muslims are getting a break at the moment.

Sorry @ff1d1l - I am trying very hard to not make this personal, because - it really, really is not.

My two posts above are not even politically motivated - quite the opposite!

Those two posts above are entirely about sensible vs senseless engagement with the themes under discussion, being answerable for one's opinions posted, the recurrent issue of @Colin Barron ( amongst few others) not ever supporting by discourse their own expressed drive-by blurts - let alone answering criticisms received, and the nature generally - of behaving like a useful contributor to discussion rather than an utter dissembling leech upon it, specialising as a bug-f*ck-loco interjectionist.

That is all.

Very charming.

I think you would find there would be a decent discussion if everyone made an effort, however, most of the hard remainers behave like playground bully boys here most of the time, these ‘drive-by blurts’ are not a one-sided thing. I realise hard remainers never see anything untoward posted by another of that type, so most won’t see it like that, obvs.

It gives a clue to the whole ukipper/ Britain First/ Brexit narrative, even if the content dropped here is carefully manicured shall we say. Take a look at the UKIP YouTube link posted a while ago ( if it’s still there)- two clicks laterally and you are through the Batten door into Tommy Yaxley Criminal territory. The other insight I got was their ( including the one who posts on here) morbid interest in Scotland, where they have no political traction. I’ve still to find out quite what’s underneath that but I don’t have the appetite to open any more of their YouTube videos- I’d need to have a shower afterwards.
Brexit is a jumping off point for something and we’re about to get a good whiff of it in the not too distant future. Farage is already pointing the way. Like his friend Trump, he’s not going to go away.
There are several Brexit daily update channels on 'you tube' and they are very popular. A vote is a vote and they all count, even your friends from ukip who you publicise on a regular basis.

I went for a job interview a few years ago with a company that changed its name from a famous brand to a non entity. (God knows - something to do with share price)
I told them that they shouldn't have done it. It would get them nowhere. Their interview technique was not very good either and I would rather work elsewhere.
I didn't get the job.

So, just like Brexit, unless one approaches the current state of being with a little positivity it will always be Brexshit.

Alternatively, you just might get told to do one.

Again.

The more this goes on, I’m increasingly convinced that this is about face saving. In the contest between the 27 state EU and the U.K. one of them is going to come out on the losing side. The U.K. will fracture because it has become a vanity project for both major Westminster parties now- the reunification of Ireland will be seen as a win for Europe but there’s something altogether more totemic about Scotland going.
It’s a double bind- the whinging about the ungrateful Irish and Scots but the fear of losing face when both are gone. Europe is where the action is - lots of my younger compatriots are keen to get back.

A Scotland within the EU would be very attractive to a lot of companies.
In the name of discussion some people wish for without ever taking part, do you have examples of these companies and what would be the specific attraction?

Companies: Chinese.
Specific attraction: to buy and lease back as many assets as possible, for as little money as possible.

Well let’s see, suppose you want to open a design house to serve Europe, you can locate in the England and Wales with a population of 60 million or Europe with a population of 450 million, suppose you want a manufacturing facility, you have a potential workforce of above but if you choose England and Wales you have to employ a lot of extra admin staff......basically say goodbye to Scotland.

Brexit rats now scuttle from the sinking Union Unit: Cummings’ friend Sonic is the latest to get the boot.

“Dominic Cummings’s most senior remaining ally in Downing Street quit last night amid claims that he had been accused by the prime minister and his fiancée of briefing against Michael Gove.

Oliver Lewis resigned as head of the union unit, a role he was given only a fortnight ago, after what allies called a “bollocking” from Boris Johnson. Lewis strongly denies giving any briefings”.

Johnson’s mistress has become expert in wielding the knife. First Dom, followed by Lee Cain now Olly. Will there be any of the Vote Leave geniuses left?

Unfortunately Frosty the no man has just been promoted so still some way to go yet.

or perhaps he is being lined up as the fall guy for the brexit deal disaster which is becoming more clear to all as each day passes?

I wonder if Cummings will come back into the fold- I’m pretty sure he’s till operating his genius bar but just not inside No.10. Johnson is running out of people to delegate the hard task of doing the work to (his greatest skill). Frost is a bellicose mediocrity- can’t see him handling the impending war with the EU on his own.

“Every revolution “evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy”, said Franz Kafka. Britain’s Brexit revolution is evaporating now and leaving behind the slime of David Frost.
The most damning criticism of the Brexit that Frost negotiated is that not one industry or trade can say that, however greatly others are suffering, we at least are benefiting from being outside the EU.
Yet, while the country suffers, no one has done better than Frost. His rise mirrors Britain’s fall. At the time of the Brexit referendum, he was just Mr David Frost”.

The Scots must be very moved to see all the Brexiter concern for their economic prospects from the same people who were so cavalier about the UK's. Both these acts result in economic self harm, yet only one of them is unwise. Funny old world.

Unfetted access to 500m customers was a powerful inducement for investment into the UK, it would be again for Scotland with access to 450m. Whether that would offset other economic downsides is very much in doubt, however being tied to the UK who have decided to limit their own prospects makes that a finer call that it would otherwise have been. Besides, the example of minimising such consideration in favour of unfounded optimism and faith has been set. Harder to deny it to others banging precisely the same drum.
