Best Rock Singers

Music Fiend
Who are your favourite rock singers?

My top 3 are, in no particular order:

Jim Morrison;
Freddie Mercury;
Chris Cornell.

Paul Rogers
John Lawton

Honourable mention to Coverdale - after '86 or so his voice was shot.

Neil Young, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan

And I'm very glad to see Paul Rodgers get mentioned so early in the thread.

Still sounds good to me on the live 2004 'Still Of The Night' DVD, though it's difficult to tell how much of that was touched up in post-production. Bootlegs on youtube show his voice was still good during the 90s. Later live performances have gone steadily down hill (see 2012 Japan and 2017 Birmingham DVDs for example), but if we're talking about singers in their prime then that's neither here nor there...

My candidates (in no particular order):
Ann Wilson
Steve Perry
Lou Gramm
David Coverdale
Glenn Hughes
Paul Rodgers
Chris Cornell
John Fogerty
Jimi Jamison

Good point.
Your favourite may not be the ones you consider the best.
In my case my favourite are the ones I consider the best.

exactly mate, I'd consider Freddie Mercury one of the best, but he certainly isn't a favourite

Conversely my favourites may not be the best

Great thread BTW

I'll get in early with;
Ronnie James Dio
Ian Gillan... in his hay day.
Roy Khan
Mike Tramp
Phil Mogg
Graham Bonnet
...just for now.

Edit: Ian corrected for spelling and orientation, re comment later on ;) Auto correct strikes again.

All of the above plus:

Ashley Holt (Warhorse, Rick Wakeman)

Inga Rumpf (Frumpy, Atlantis)

Roger Daltry (The 'Oo)

Sammy Hagar (Montrose, Van Halen)

Hugh Cornwell

Who would have thought Hugh Cornwell and Richard Thompson were once in the same band:

How the mother-******'- hell has Lemmy been missed so far?

Not my bag really but ............................. how could any admirer of rock not include the uggliest man in rock? Fookin stupendous at what he did.

Really great topic \m/:D\m/

Here are my two cents:
Mike Patton
Whitfield Crane
John Lynn Turner

Ohh there are so many...

Rather difficult to look past peak period Rod Stewart, Faces & solo up to Atlantic Crossing. Better than all mentioned thus far.
