The New Tory Hypocrisy Thread.

Pretty sure the user profile of cocaine users is well known, they are not going to find out anything new.

Can you describe, please, how any Government could reduce the profits of the criminal gangs involved in the trade? You need not show your workings....

I am reminded of the Yes, Minister line (no pun intended): 'Something must be done! This is something, so we must do it.'

When my wife worked in London a few years ago cocaine was almost as available and used as alcohol, all the bright young things would have a snort before going out especially on Friday.

If a reduction in cocaine use is the aim then stopping making it insanely profitable for organised crime ought to be the first priority, it’s a stupid idea because you can get the same information from testing sewage.

The old method of testing fivers isn’t useful anymore in these contactless days.

Our Government obviously thinks Cocaine use is a jolly jape so I can’t see anything being done about it. If Corbyn or any poor kid had admitted using they’d have been tested, questioned and had their home searched.

If you want to see hypocrisy in action read this.

Greening was particularly the Gove who caused the problems she’s complaining about in the first place.

Tell that to the poor sods blinded by buying illegal hooch in corner shops.
No one has to buy illegal booze. It might be that they do not know or realise it is hooky but the cheap price is often a give away. Equating the hugely profitable illegal drugs market with some chancers selling, or buying, fake booze (or fags) is not really comparable.

No-one has to buy illegal drugs either.
That’s a false equivalence, though. There is no legal, regulated alternative to drugs. Anybody buying cheap hooch is taking a risk they don’t need to take, because they can obtain alcohol legally everywhere and know it is safe and to a minimum standard. If you want drugs, you’re in the Wild West. The lesson of the prohibition era teaches us that legal, controlled manufacture and supply is safer and eliminates a large tranche of organised crime. It’s a win-win, and it’s only ideology and political posturing that prevents it being tackled properly.

Although ... tobacco and alcohol are both legal, and highly dangerous. What are the long-term health risks associated with cocaine, especially if combined with alcohol? Is it as addictive as tobacco?

Its a damage limitation exercise, besides a known quantity of a known substance is usually safer than a substance which is of unknown quantity cut with quite often with even more toxic products.

Priti’s ready to snitch on her neighbours for breaching Covid regulations but looks like one of her former neighbours on the Tory benches and former government whip hasn’t caught her attention. Will the Home Secretary be making any comment now that a conviction has been secured?
