Financing a Porsche Macan

In that case just find the best priced vehicle for the spec you want and do the same if you want finance. Someone like Lombard will offer you a much better rate than Porsche.

Environment seems to have changed over the last year, bank is still very cheap in line with the long term prospects of doom.

On the other hand we've become accustomed to subsidised loans on new equipment from manufacturers and that's gone up to 4% +.

Be interesting to see how the car market moves if anyone ever buys a new one.

makes Range Rover’s products look and feel like antique agricultural vehicles!

isn't that what the aesthetic should be? the macan makes something that should be rugged look like the sort of vehicle a boujee couple does the grocery shopping in, with fancy $5 coffee beverages in cup holders.

No.

The assembly practices at JLR aren’t something to be envied, their use of dated parts bin raiding is shocking...

A Rangey in a smart suit doesn’t fool anyone who cares to look under the skin just once. A detailed examination of anything from Porsche is a joy.

But don’t listen to me, I own neither. Ask those who leave JLR’s products and spend their cash on something else.

Well, that's exactly what they are! A recent contract working with Jaguar Landrover left me less than impressed shall we say..
'...makes Range Rover’s products look and feel like antique agricultural vehicles!'

Which wouldn't be so bad if they were simple and reliable but as I understand it they are complex and unreliable.

Yep. First owner, warranty, doesn’t care so much. Keeps buying the latest sharp suit. Cares not one jot. I’d be scared of a five year old one with 60k miles on it.

Ours weren't. We owned our Range Rover TDV8 from new, Four years and 60-odd thousand faultless miles. Brilliant vehicle. The Discovery Td5 we had before that, similar mileage, no problems with that either.

Porsches are good reliable cars. Don't be scared to buy 3+ year old used and get friendly with your nearest Porsche indie specialist for servicing. Sounds like you have the cash available to do that so I'd be buying privately with a PPI (a good way to get to know your local Porsche Indie).

Find someones that had a stupid low part-ex offer from Porsche dealer (they are savage ATM) and but it off them.

The facebook Porsche forums are a great hunting ground...

That will be because they were designed before Tata took over and when the focus was on off-road ability not appealing to footballers' wives.

Example of dealer markup...
This sold at an open auction platform just 4 days ago for £37k (including buyers 6% auction fee)

Now at dealers for £45k...apparently they "...take great care in sourcing the finest Porsche it is possible to acquire". They bought it at auction site unseen FFS

I can only find one similar for sale https://www.gtonesales.co.uk/used-cars/porsche-boxster-3-4-987-spyder-2dr-chertsey-202007241652400
It's £1k cheaper but does not benefit from being sold by a known Porsche specialist.

I can't blame Paragon for charging what they do, they took the risk at £37k. If it was perfect, and assuming the auction wasn't trade only, how come no-one else thought it was worth a punt at £37k or even £40k?

If Paragon put it out for £42k which (if the car didn't need much to bring it up to Paragon's retail standard) would make a reasonable profit, it might not sell; a Spyder buyer knows what they go for and would be suspicious at a bargain.

The Paragon one hasn't got bucket seats and PDK ones are much harder to sell.. Paragon are chancing their arm.

At least the GT One example has buckets and they are £6k a pair to buy now (just noticed that one doesn't even have the original Spyder wheels).

I posted it as an example of the mark-up. I seriously doubt that car will hand any new owner a big bill for years so people shouldn't be scared of buying the likes of Porsche privately.
