Scam warning

Seems eBay are not bothered. I reported about a dozen of the 300 items to try to hint to take them all down, but no change. Loads of stuff (why so many horseboxes?) all copies from legitimate completed listings.

I reported the Tannoy Yorks too. They are still listed. Surely ebay should just suspend/delete the users account?
 
I contacted the seller just out of curiosity, basically to confirm my suspicions, asking where they are and could I look at them. He replied that he is away in Spain, the goods would be sent remotely after payment into his account..

Contacted E Bay but they're clearly not arsed.

Did you consider sounding him out to meet him halfway again and re-exchange? It might have flushed him out. I appreciate it is a difficult time with what is going on with CV-19.

Thanks Stuart. I think you're right about him. I was stupid enough to mention to him that my Dad was in hospital and I'd struggle to do a long journey. I think he just took advantage of that, as well as the covid business. We did discuss meeting halfway again, but he was raising stupid objections, and if we'd gone ahead I'm not even sure he'd have turned up. Lesson learned.
 
I remain amazed by the ineptitude of eBay. I reported these 2 'sellers', on their live chat, and was passed on to a 'fraud specialist'. After explaining yet again that all (but 1) of the 600 listings have only one photo, and an image stating DO NOT BID CONTACT ME TO BUY EMAIL ....., she said 'you could be on to something here'. No sh1t Sherlock!

They are all still there.

Both of those are the hacked account sellers above each with 300 items (umpteen bikes and horseboxes) that I already reported.
The second photo is the giveaway.

eBay appear not to give a toss. I feel like just bidding them all at £1000000.

Yeah l advertised for a wanted Hadcock tone on on Here and received a reply saying a friend had one for sale and linked me an email address.
Yeah stupidly l contacted the address and was shown pictures of the etc,
Surface to say sent him my delivery address, but luckily went no further as he had reduced the inflated price to meet my request and realised too good to be true. So l stopped there but realised how easy it would have been to send money for no item.
‘‘Twas just the fact that l’m too trusting and assumed validity because l was on a Pink fish.
Who the heck has pictures of a Hadcock ready and waiting, so sad we can’ t relax and trust.

Ahh well tricky times

Yeah, but as I realised my error noticed member was a one time visit.
But was so delighted did not note the obvious tell tell signs AGhhhhh

One of the most commonly stolen items in rural areas, along with trailers, generators, quad bikes, chainsaws etc. Unless it’s bolted down assume it will disappear. Even then, it will probably disappear at some point.
 
A friend who’s a member here but rarely post was scammed via Gumtree int he last fortnight. The seller claimed to be from Scotland and the item was a Cambridge Audio steamer. My friend paid £500 via bank transfer and the seller Sent a fake tracking number and suddenly went quiet. Buyer has contacted the courier for the supposed item which they confirmed doesn’t exist. He also contacted the police and gumtree who were less helpful. So beware if you come across this advert.
 
What I did recently was to send the buyer a picture of my passport and a utility bill in my name to reassure him that the bank account he was paying into (in my name) matched the above
This evidence was all in picture with the item for sale



It's not an unreasonable thing to do when a buyer is parting with a few grand on trust!
 
I do a bit on fb marketplace with lego and most people are happy to use bank transfer. FB market does have a feedback system which helps buyers see my bona fide. Some buyers insist on paypal which I usually refuse because it is such a buyers charter and more risk for me as a seller, although they think the risk is to them. Actually most people buying and selling lego are a decent bunch.
Anyone see the guy in Manchester on gumtree, no txts, no offers and always higher end gear. Where he gets it all from I wonder but his ads are off putting.

With bank transfer the risk is for the buyer only ... with pay pal is almost 50:50 and at least both are traceable.
In a paypal deal If you do your part (pictures of the goods you are selling, tracking Nr. ect) you have actually more in case of scam, then the buyer sending money to a bank account and just have to wait and hope it gets what he payed for and if not the only option is to contact the police. Even more difficult and risky for the buyer if is not from UK.
 
I don't usually get a problem with bank transfers. I use FB market which I believe is damaging eBay's core business because ebay are always offering £1 listings which tells me they're worried. FB market has a feedback system so that helps build trust.
 
If anyone should happen to deal on fleabay with a certain user K.k.muller then let it be known he is a fraudster. Happily took my money for speakers and relisted them the next day for double the price hoping to make more money. A complete waste of space.
