Am happy with din output a digital output could be handy but I think bigger gain come from better power supply
Yes, we can now modify a Hicap and CD player to use as a dual-polarity power supply for the CDI, CD2 and CD3.

True, but to my mind you need to fix it as a first priority. I do many repairs, but as a mechanical engineer, CD players are not a good place to start....but then you might have a different skill set, and different prioritiesAm happy with din output a digital output could be handy but I think bigge gain come from better power supply

Ah well I understand, been there in my younger day, which seems a hell of a long time ago, hope it works out for youHi well as a mechanical engineer myself I get your point hence when funds allow I will price repairs but conscious of what a working cd3 sells for against what it will cost to repair
You can source them on eBay relatively easily, how worthwhile it is is up to you! If you want to stick with CD there are some cracking players for relatively little money on the 2nd hand market, and many other options these days.Saga continues been with a local specialist for a while now so he has - Replaced Electrolytic + Tantallum Capacitors in Power Regulator, Audio Output + Muting Circuits. Fault still evident. Suspect / Possible D/A Converter IC faulty.
so looks like transport was indeed ok.
I take it TDA 1541 as fitted to this player are impossible to find?
time to scrap it or hope yet?

I don't have it is still with the local guy he is pretty sure the dac is fried. In short term could a digital out be fitted to use an external dac as an sure it would make a fine transport. Don't know if possible I'd the dac is damaged
