If Spurs had Messi they would win the Premier League. My guess is he scores more than their whole combined front line each year.

Chelsea should develop and use their young players. It would be good to sell some of the so-so 1st team members, who cost us millions, to make way for them. This would put money in our pocket to buy one-offs like Messi or Ronaldo.

There is no chance of us getting the latter, but Messi ... His dad was on Abramovich's $1.5 Billion superyacht Eclipse for a chat a while ago.

This is a genuine question rather than a wind-up, but Chelsea are supposed to have about 30 players out on loan at any time. How many of them turn out to be first team squad players eventually? I know they recalled Nathan Ake recently, but I'm not sure if they've actually used him yet?

Not many I don't think. It works out economically when the players are loaned or sold to other teams though.

Ake has played couple of times towards the end of matches I believe, but hasn't made a great impact. It must be really difficult to be brought on for the last 5 minutes.

Unfortunately we keep buying expensive players who aren't that good, instead of a few who are brilliant. Kante and Costa have made a huge difference this year, although the latter was iffy in 2016.

If anything Chelsea keep using average 1st team players for far too long.

Be amazed to see either Barcelona, more of a chance, than Arsenal to get any further after their first legs.

Didn't see the fantastic Arses last night who proved their quality by losing only 5 - 1 against Bayern.

I look forward to the highlights on BT this morning, especially if Wenger tries to express his natural joy by threatening an official or trying to beat up a manager.

Wenger is an embarrassment to the Premier League and France. He is the only decent argument for leaving the EU.

Apparently one of the problems is that Arsenal can't remember if they're still in The Champions League, as you can read here.

The big thing that winds me up about Wenger, apart from his obvious individual shortcomings, is the equally obvious preferential treatment he gets from the FA. Wenger has pushed and shoved other managers and linesman on the touchline in full sight of the cameras and gets little or nothing by way of punishment, yet other managers who kick a water bottle or say something out of sight get hung drawn and quartered. And even if a ref is brave enough to red card an Arsenal player, chances are that FA will rescind it.

David Dein isn't even VC of the FA anymore, which just goes to show what an old boys network the FA is.

Sooner it's reformed the better.

I know what you mean re your own club absolutely. One of my bug bear phrases though is "these things average themselves out over the season". Nobody has ever shown any data to prove that. It's all incredibly random, but the pressure senior players and managers of the top clubs put on officials, I'm sure has an effect.
 
Why exactly can't crucial decisions be reviewed on TV replay ? Rugby, cricket and tennis seem to manage it.
 
The stop/start nature of those 3 sports helps a lot. Particularly cricket and tennis. Many issues around implementing it in football, given the need in most cases for an "instant"
decision so as not to stop the flow of the game unnecessarily (they managed it with goal line tech). And who prompts any "review" of an incident? the officials, the managers, the players?

This will surely happen in time, supporter's need protecting from refs. On Saturday Palace deservedly lost to Burnley but a Ref.Bobby Maddely( the new Clatenburg) and his assistant gave offside to Zaha when two metres onside and was brought down by Heaton the Burnley keeper and also a poor non penalty decision in the second half.

This happens so often to most teams and I consider that the play has become so fast and congested that it is almost impossible for less than the best to run the game.

In my view a review system like that used in cricket would be a sensible way of progressing.

ps. I would also welcome a points system being awarded to players diving for example a 10 for the Lucas dive--he needs to work on that, perhaps at the nearest swimming pool in Liverpool.
 
Arsenal Fan TV presenter Robbie Lyle claims he was called a black c*** by Spurs fans while being escorted from White Hart Lane by the police, according to The Daily Mail.

"Videos from the scene saw fans air a series of songs aimed at the recognisable YouTube presenter, who claims he was called a 'black c***' while being helped away from the ground."

A 70 year old Chelsea fan got a black eye and was thrown down the stairs by Spurs thugs at Wembley a couple of weeks ago.

I know this story is true because I sometimes use the 70 year old's two season tickets. He is about as far away from a football thug as you could get.

Spurs supporters have an increasingly bad reputation for racism and violence. Both happen at football grounds but need to be dealt with quickly. I am not sure that Tottenham Hotspur are doing anything about it.

Robbie Lyle says Spurs need to sort out security at their ground, because it is a disgrace and dangerous. Both young kids and old people being are being attacked. I know I wouldn't bother going up to White Hart Lane.

Goals, penalties and red cards are pauses to play anyway, so easy to review. What would be missed is unseen fouls, handball and off the ball incidents.
At least diving would become pointless.

Address the issue instead of making a cheap comment. The 70 year old who was thrown down the stairs was injured. Plus there is a section of Spurs fans who are racist. What are the club doing about it?

I think this says plenty about you.

If racism comes up as a topic concerning Chelsea, I deal with it directly. I research to find out (a) if the accusation is true and (b) what is being done about it. You have done neither by the looks of it.
