Trentemøller

Got them on 3 or 4 x 12" in various colours is it.

I think I have all the Pole there is, probably.

Can I just say I have the double CD of The Last Resort, but the Disk 1 has gone AWOL. I have looked in that place by the Hi-Fi, not there. Fortunately I have all the main tracks on the vinyl, but I just need to find them as well.

DS

What's that then is it? I just buy them when they come out.

Well another one that has an innovation bent and good sound design, we shall go for Isolee. Several albums and 12"s, like the classic Beau Mot Plage. Should be findable there.

Next, if you can stand a bit of dissonance in the mixture, Mathew Jonson (yes, that spelling is right) No real artist album yet, but some cracking tracks like Decompression and Marionette.

If The Last Resort floats your boats then Mike Sheridan's "I Syv Sind" and Lulu Rouge's "Bless You" are essentials. Both have worked along side Trentemoller and are very similar but a tad more laid back.
Not the easiest to get on vinyl, but heyhoo, thats part of the fun.

I wouldn't say trentmoller is totally house in the traditional sense, um, is it.

But I want to be careful not to fall into a house trap, i.e. house music in my experience does seem to lead to a bit of a dead end/this is what it is, kind of thing.

Trentmoller having listened for a while now is skirting the edge there, if I am not careful I will be listening to House Music, and I might feel a little bit of sick come into my mouth if I utter to someone that I listen to House Music. At some point not to far into the future I will be 40. Its not big or clever to be listening to house music at this age.

That's a bit tricky then is it.

I was listening to my Disciples of Annihliation 2 x 12" Industrial Strength hardcore today, is that allowed there?

Garyi....I am 46.
I have hanged about with :-
David Holmes

Advent

Do I feel sick in ma mouth......no ****ing way.

I was try to sound cool like dss, but never quite pulled it off.

Anyhow I purchased a Pole cd on Amazon will see where that leads.

Zygote I have albums by four of those listed artists so perhaps I have already arrived.

I had this discrimination last week in a record shop, when presenting my selections of avant- garde, experimental, dubstep, trance, hardcore and house items the RSA came up with 'These for you then?' in an enquiring manner.

If there are concerns about the age segmentation of particular stands of music, I suggest staying off the
Dubstep and post-noise is it.

Some Dad Rock may be more appropriate,

James Last is still touring, I imagine that would be pretty safe there.

Or buy whatever you like (apart from C&W or Opera, obviously).

Yes! Good call on the Mike Sheridan. Awesome stuff. You can get it all track-by-track on Beatport if needs be. So intricate, and sonically fantastic. I'm also enjoying Dubtractor, as recommended by Tony. Not so similar to Trentemoller, but I can hear the link, and really like it. I guess it's more similar to The Great Wide Yonder.

My all time favourite Trentemoller track is number 3 on TLR - 'Evil Dub'. When the main beat returns after the breakdown/bass guitar section, is one of my top sonic moments.

Has anyone found anywhere to buy the Mike Sheridan on CD? I've drawn a blank so far other than it being on Spotify.

Tony.

trentmoller isn't house music, but good house music is no dead end. I guess it depends on the actual tracks. There's a lot of shit out there but there's another golden age happenning right now.

nice! I'm hoping to catch Larry at Plan B on 1 May. Keep the Faith!

In terms of suggestions of music similar to Trentemoller, or which might differ but appeal to Trentemoller fans, I guess "similar" depends on which aspect of his music is the main draw for an individual. I can appreciate some people like Trentemoller, but don't really like "dance music" per se. The other thing being format preference and whether a person wants to avoid buying 12 inch singles. I'm assuming here that CD would be the preferred format, but if anyone is interested in collecting 12s who doesn't already buy this stuff I could waffle on further :)

I suppose from the electronic dub and "minimalist" tech angles, obvious suggestions would be Basic Channel label/group http://www.basicchannel.com/ (Rhythm and Sound, etc.). If you don't tend to buy 12s, then this CD is well worth getting http://basicchannel.com/item/RSD-1

From the minimalist "techno" angle, then I'd highly recommend a lot of Carl Craig's material, or mixes, some really sublime music.
[Almost forgot - Jeff Mills!!]
From the same angle, Sandwell District's output is also well worth seeking out. CD format being by far the cheapest route http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/407038-01.htm
Expect to pay c.£100 for that on vinyl.

Slightly different UK slant (not really sure what genre you'd apply) I highly recommend exploring Actress. Splazsh on CD being a good start point. Straying away from Trentemoller a little so may be more or less up your street.
http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/392668-01.htm

Another on Honest Jon's label artist/group - Moritz Von Oswald Trio. Sort of soundscape, meets jazz, meets... er.. some other thing
http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/417533-01.htm

Not sure whether it would be straying too far from the Nordic soundscape aspect, but I would recommend at least checking out Shackleton, Peveralist, Appleblim, Midland, Ramadanman and similar, if only to form an opinion.
Good Shackleton mixed CD (all his material)

Three EPs (but on CD :)
http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/368753-01.htm

From the Berghain / deep techno angle - Ben Klock's and Marcel Dettmann's output or mixes. This Ben Klock mix CD is a decent start point:
http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/392029-01.htm
Another on Ostgut Ton label, an unmixed CD with a variety of good individual tracks:
http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/403069-01.htm
A CD of Dettmann produced music:

Get on the Resident Adviser podcasts for a consistent and free source of excellent try-before-you-buy house, techno and electronic-ness; with none of the Spotify 10 minute ad break nonsense.

Tony, in case it's of use, you can get the individual WAVs for £1.99 each from Juno Digital (Beatport is £2.44 per file):

Thanks, I found some shop in Denmark that has it listed on CD (link), so I've ordered it there, though I suspect it will prove out of stock / unavailable. I don't pay for downloads on principle, so if I can't buy it properly as a hard copy I'll just wait until I can.

Tony.

For music to make iGary sick, I would recommend stuff on the Underground Quality and Novel Sound labels and the like, artists like Dj Qu, DJ Jus-Ed, Levon Vincent and that is it.

True, stripped down back to the roots House Music, without too much vocal .

Pls report on the Pole position, I wouldn't have seen that as TM like, more fuzzy crackly electronic dub.
