Your first real hifi

I think the whole lot cost about £260 (TT - £50, amp - £60, speakers £150 does that sound about right?) which, as you say, was quite a lot of money. According to the mags, that was THE system you got with that amount of cash, no ifs or buts. It lasted me a while, and maybe I should have kept the Goldring for longer, but the little system of rubber wheels was eventually looked down on, and so I moved on to a Thorens TD 165 which was probably a poor swap.

I've still got it all although it's now at my in-laws place still doing the business-

- B&W DM5's (Purchaed by my father before I was born)
- Technics SU-V550 integrated (My Dad's from when I was about 5)
- Phillips CD-Player from richers (First off was an AUX out cable from my PC at the time, cd-player was bought by me later)

As I said all still in action, speakers about 35 years old now and still sound lovely at my in-laws place if just a little too sweet and sickly sounding sometimes - but very forgiving and not at all harsh.
