1986: Pioneer A22. Usual £100 entry level stuff, died on one channel in c.95
95-98: Pioneer A400X, which had (and still does have!) ace reviews. God knows why, it was garbage considering it was no longer entry level stuff.
97-98ish: the Epiphany moment. A mate brought round a Quad 33/303. From that moment on I knew the Pioneer was dead. A month or two later I had a running 33-303 for the princely sum of £90.
98-2000: Quad 44-405 rising to biamped 405s. Great.
Did this one *swing* with Linn Keilidhs and an LP12.
2000: Pre replaced with a Rotel Michi item, lovely.
2002-2007: Meridian 105 (106?) powers. One died and went back for repair in '03. They drive QLN Prestige 3 ways, I don't think it's an easy life.
07: 405 rebuilt and modded. This is the best amp I've ever had. Next step will be active XOs using the stuff out of the loft, recapped and serviced as necessary. I think this will give me more quality than any more amp rolling unless I get some humungous Krell affair, and I'd probably get more fun out of designing and building my own XO from plans on the net than just buying *another* amp.
