System pics 2012 #2

It has been a while since I posted a system pic.

Latest addition is the Audiolab 8200DQ and very nice it is too :)

I must admit that I didn't get on with Compasses when I had a pair around ten years ago, but I *love* the look of those (Obelisks?) and it's a smart system - great stuff! How wide are those speakers, by the way? Is that a 10" or a 12" driver?

That's a very smart and tidy system - I am jealous. No matter what I try, my system always looks like a rats nest of cables and abandoned boxen.

I must try to fix this before the muthas arrive...

Oh, there's a good rats nest of cables, but it's kind of stuffed in the corner behind the shelf where you can't see it !

Does the Rega sound better on the Ikea table? I'm told they are fantastic?

...with the castors fitted

Very nice wood floor too

Must admit I've never tried it on the Ikea table.

However, it does sound very good on the Quadraspire where it currently resides. (with an Audiophile Base support underneath it)

Go on get it on the Ikea...

I just want to know, without the bother of trying it myself. A couple of dealers have now told me that they are the best place to put a TT other than attached to a wall :-S

Nah - my days of audiophile neurosis are over.

It sounds great where it is and I can't be bothered moving kit and furniture around.

Lovely system. May I ask where you sourced the superb looking cabinet?

It was the bottom end of Hulsta's modular storage range when we bought it - a number of years ago, so probably not obtainable now in this exact form. It's actually pretty basic veneer-on-chipboard stuff, but it does look OK.

As the Tannoys became something of a poisoned chalice, a coupled system amendments arrived yesterday to fill their place.

Firstly I bought the Berning preamp

I fitted some lovely RCA clear tops. The ZOTL Pre is now working in place of the Vibe and helping to drive these.

Oh dear. Two way stand mounts. Who'd have thought it.
