Shamelessly copied from the Naim forum ... although we had a thread like this in 2008.

I need to re-invent and re-organise my system and would like to see what others have come up with, so please show us what you've got, and how you've arranged your listening space.

Just a short reminder -

The pfm forum does not provide free image hosting though it does allow links to external images using the vBcode IMG tags. The reason pfm does not provide this facility is that it has an impact on the database size and bandwidth, and therefore the actual performance and running cost of the site. It is also unnecessary to provide this kind of facility these days as every internet service provider (ISP) provides their customers with an amount of webspace included in the monthly fee, i.e. you already have the facility and have paid for it. There are also dedicated sites specialising in image hosting, many being free.

To get your own picture to appear in a post on pfm you will need to find out how the webspace of your own ISP works, this information can be found in the ISP’s FAQ section. You will need a simple FTP (file transfer protocol) application to get your image up to your webspace, there is a wide choice available for PC, Mac and *nix, including freeware, so it need not cost anything. You need to know the sign in details for your webspace, again this is between you and your ISP. For the rest of this FAQ it is assumed that you been able to get the file up either onto your own webspace or onto a site like Flickr, TinyPic, Photobucket etc.

To link to your file you obviously need to know where it is, i.e. you need to know the full domain, path and file name of the location where you uploaded the image, it will look something like this:

www.mysite.com/myfolder/myfile.jpg[... Please note that I have added ‘[url]http://’ to the beginning of the domain – this is needed for the link to work.

Replace the } brackets with ] brackets, the } brackets are needed here to show how it works.

Sony DVD/multi-format player; Beresford DAC, nait 3 amp; Royd Minstrels; not the very latest set up (have added a PVR recorder) all routed via the DAC. Thinking about changing the amp and speakers for active speakers using the dac as pre-amp.

The photobucket photos have a "direct link" URL off to the left - you can just use that and use the photo insert button in the advanced post editor. Alternatively just type this into the normal (quick reply) editor:

Sky Digibox / Marantz PM7200 / Klipsch Heresy. This is an old pic, it has one of my Lenco L70s in place of the 124, and I now have a Mac Mini on the rack as an iTunes server, though to be honest I seldom use it. The TV, a 32" Sony LCD, is out of shot in other alcove.

I suppose this is the "speakers either side of a hifi rack" arrangement, in a dedicated listening room. Stack of vinyl in one corner, stack of cd's along one side wall. Chair facing system. And wall-mounted monoblock amps.

[edited to add] btw, system comprises:
Solid-tech rack, top to bottom:
top shelf: Clearaudio Emotion / Satisfy arm / Clearaudio Aurum Classics Wood cart
2nd shelf: Heed Orbit 2 (psu / speed control for the t/t), Graham Slee Era Gold V
3rd shelf: Cyrus PSX-R, Cyrus Pre X
4th shelf: SimAudio Moon Nova cd player
5th shelf: spare
flanked by: a pair of Cyrus Mono X's (wall-shelf mounted)
flanked by: a pair of Rega R7's, now sporting homemade grilles.

Hi Gary, it's a nod towards sound absorption - it's a wall hanging (from a shop specialising in swedish design) mounted on a simple 2"x1" frame screwed to the wall, with Wickes heavy duty slab insulation inserted into the frame. If nothing else it must help to change the wall acoustic quality away from that of a plain flat surface; the latter I assume to be a bad thing.
