Many bands have changed line-ups including singers and other members to continue for better or worse or just different - Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Van Halen, Manfred Mann, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Ultravox, King Crimson, Iron Maiden, Small Faces to faces, Black Sabbath...the list is endless and i'll wager some of you have many in your collections. Granted this was a reformation after a long gap and they've not been able to call themselves 'The Jam' But 2 out of 3 members wouldn't have been a bad deal - ok so it's down to 1 now.
Notwithstanding all that I've seen 3 purely tribute bands; Australian Doors, Australian Pink Floyd and a Clash tribute band. All three were a great night out and sounded superb and it's a rare chance to hear some favourite tunes played with real instruments - oh that they tarnish the hallowed memory of the real thing!
If you've never been to such a gig on principle, steal yourself and go one time!
