  2. Where we are now: The site is back up and running! The character set encoding issue has been fixed so old posts should now look ok. I am currently working on themes/skins etc and I will be deleting the temporary green skin very soon as it has many issues. I will do a very quick variation on the stock blue skin first just to get a light-grey background and san-serif font, and I will set this as default. Later this week I will hopefully add a professional third-party skin in pfm colours (life is way too short to do this crap myself, and I've found one I really like than needs next to no tweaking). We are getting there slowly...

  3. May I please request people check and update their email address if it is out if date. I ask as I’m getting countless bounce errors as the server fails to send notifications through etc. I’ll eventually figure out how to send these to a black hole somewhere, but it makes sense to address it at source as quite a few folk are obviously not getting the thread and conversations notifications they have set in their preferences.

  4. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

    Thanks Pete :)

Haha - I like it. Was this shot with the S7? I hadn't though to try macro with it. Again, an astounding image from a smartphone camera!

    Here's yet another square :)

    Thanks Amar.

Well, it's not really macro compared to your incredible bee take. Wow.

It was windy so I had to take few to get the little fella into focus.

Thank you Drummerman - wind is the enemy of macro photographers! Makes everything much more difficult :(

Lovely flowering and that fly is pin sharp as far as I can see.

    Beautiful time of the year.

I am not entirely sure why ... ahem ... but this has a slightly voyeuristic feel to it ... ;)

Thanks but the XT-2 seems to nail the tracking every time, I can't take the credit, took 1200 shots at the weekend and around 95% are in focus.

Just had a play again tonight, straight out of camera JPG's, there was 9 in this burst and it nailed them all, loving the XT-2.

Not bad at all. Hope you both enjoy the new hobbies!

Next time try slower shutter speeds and move the camera with the movement of the car. Start at, say 1/125th and you might get decent blur of the wheels and background. Then try 1/60th, see how you go. You'll end up with a sensation of speed.

Thanks Tony, I had a little play but nothing as slow as 1/60, will give it a go as I like the blurred background. I tried 1/200 and got this.

+1, playing with slower shutter speeds and panning is well worth trying to communicate the essence of movement in motorsport.

These all 35mm fixed lense, so subjects close-up and moving fast!:

Thanks - and yes you're right, it's a great time of year to be out with a camera. :)

Some great motoring pics here. Just one of the things I can't do easily with a phone.

@ PeteMB&D Beauly is in the detail of your pictures. You seem to find something interesting and worthy of showing everywhere where I have to look hard. I also liked 'Reflections' on the other page.
