  2. Where we are now: The site is back up and running! The character set encoding issue has been fixed so old posts should now look ok. I am currently working on themes/skins etc and I will be deleting the temporary green skin very soon as it has many issues. I will do a very quick variation on the stock blue skin first just to get a light-grey background and san-serif font, and I will set this as default. Later this week I will hopefully add a professional third-party skin in pfm colours (life is way too short to do this crap myself, and I've found one I really like than needs next to no tweaking). We are getting there slowly...

  3. May I please request people check and update their email address if it is out if date. I ask as I’m getting countless bounce errors as the server fails to send notifications through etc. I’ll eventually figure out how to send these to a black hole somewhere, but it makes sense to address it at source as quite a few folk are obviously not getting the thread and conversations notifications they have set in their preferences.

  4. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

Magnetic bursts by the old man sun..

There was another magnetic burst few days ago. A storm.

    Did anybody have any problems?

Last time, was it in October or November, we had few days a huge magn. storm. I have reckon that may have been the reason for the unexpected tant burn I suddenly had in my secreg in the NAC.

May be possible if the tant was on the edge, who knows?

In the end of 2003 whole Southern Sweden lost electricity by sun bourne magnetic burns, they say. BTW in the end of 2004 Sweden again lost it's electricity in some Southern parts but this time by storming winds and rains. Before we joked about the Russian submarines Swedes saw everywhere, now their electric systems..

Look, how my tant was treated:

Most propable. A clear torpedo hit. :D

One day I woke up from my nap (no, I was not in a NAP!)
for a bumb sound. Then smaller scratching and bumbing from
spkrs. Went to look and saw my open NAC was smoking.

At once turned my cap down. This had happened.
A tant burned from one sec. reg. After being on about 2-3 weeks.

Saw a periscope heading off our garden...

    No other damages reported.

    Kylla!

Mind you, when I think about it, it's more likely to have been an American one. I think most of the Soviet ones are tied-up and on the verge of reactor meltdown.

    Makes sense really...

    Hyvää iltaa Linnik!

I have to confess, I'm a bit of a fraud. I am just practising a few words and phrases, prior to a very short business trip to somewhere in your locality.

As you are all waiting for this info with baited breath.
It was caused by a powerful X (class x3.8) Solar flare from sunspot region 10720. The solar explosion was also exceptionally
"loud." At frequencies of 10 cm (about 2800 MHz), the explosion was over 80 times louder than the background noise of the Sun, registering a burst intensity of 12,000 sfu (the normal background level being about 150 sfu).

    Do I get the anorak

    Clive,

You've earned your anorak. Nice you've got your hearing back, at least partially.
