Our founder, Julian Vereker, immediately understood the many benefits of aluminium as a material for wrapping Naim electronic components. He knew that delicate audio components are very sensitive to the effects of magnetic fields, unstable temperatures, unwanted vibrations, etc. While other manufacturers were bending thin sheets of steel, Naim used thick plates of aluminium.

"I’m not a fan of streaming but I loved this streamer. Let me explain. Streaming is essential to a reviewer; instead of requesting and waiting for CDs, etc, we have a massive buffet of everything we’d ever need for review. As such, it’s a fantastic tool. And if I want that tool to sound at its very best, approaching, and at times matching, my wonderful Red Book CD player, I would save up $8999 and grab a Naim NSC 222. It’s a gorgeous piece of kit and exemplifies the very best of what Julian Vereker expected from his components. As I get to play with the Aavik and Ansuz combo, among the world’s best streaming setups, I’m good, but if you want to spend less and streaming is your primary listening format, you cannot do better than the fabulous Naim. Very highly recommended."

"So, the NSC 222 is a terrific performer for the money. What do you do when funds allow and the upgrade bug strikes? We suspect Naim’s answer would be ‘buy the NPX 300 power supply, of course’. This costs the same as the amplifier, and the lift in performance reflects that. The improvement on the ’222’s sound is significant, gaining in every single area. The presentation is far bigger and more muscular while dynamic shifts are significantly more powerful and convincing. We can hear deeper into the recording and low-level instrumental strands are easier to follow. The NPX 300 power supply has a huge price tag but also makes a huge improvement.

It feels like Naim has tried to move more towards the mainstream with the NSC 222, but that’s no bad thing. It is a terrific all rounder, and delivers to a high standard regardless of whether we’re talking about its streaming abilities, phono stage, analogue or digital inputs. Could you put together a bunch of separate components that do exactly the same job but sound better? Possibly, but they would have to be expertly matched, and even then we don’t feel the gains would be massive.

If you are after a product that offers the performance of quality separates hi-fi but without much of the clutter and fuss then this Naim is definitely worth investigating. That applies regardless of whether you are already a fan of the brand or not."

Combining performance and versatility, the NAC 332 can be easily configured to suit your audio world. Map any input button to any of the 8 input sockets, such as balanced XLR, DIN and RCA, allowing simple connection to any audio source. The NAC 332 has a powered DIN socket for connection with the NVC TT phono stage. The front panel has a ¼ inch headphone socket. Behind the socket is a 1.5W state-of-the-art headphone amplifier. On the rear panel, twin outputs of XLR and RCA allow connection to a variety of power amplifiers, or the ability to bi-amp.

Under the leadership of our Technical Director, our engineers have developed innovative electronic circuits to give the New Classic products excellent audio performance. The best components have been auditioned for their audio performance, such as through-hole resistors used in the volume control. The architecture of the Statement volume control is carried over to the NAC 332, using reed relays to switch between the volume resistors. This ensures premium sound quality, the ability to have adjustable input sensitivity and the capability to set a maximum volume level.

Easy to use

Simplicity is the key. Buttons on the front panel allow quick access to inputs, volume, standby mode and mute. The bi-directional ZigBee remote allows complete control even without direct visibility of the product. For a complete home audio experience, you can update your system wirelessly which allows you to control both servers and Naim streaming products, eliminating the need to manage two separate apps. The NSS 333 is also multi-room compatible with all other Naim streaming products.

HIGH END AUDIO PERFORMANCE

Naim Classic products offer excellent audio quality with tried and tested components. The NSS 333 has a 40-bit floating point SHARC DSP for precise digital sound. Its front panel is easy to use, and the ZigBee remote can control the system without direct visibility. The system automatically goes into standby mode after 20 minutes of inactivity.
