.......to fill a pair of Atacama SL700 speaker stands? or should I just use sand if so which sand Silver Sand,Builders Sand etc ?

I bought my stands 2nd hand (Partington Broadside) and they came with attabites and spikes

prior to buying, I done a bit of research, and was told that one should only fill the stands 3/4 and not fully

also was told that I should avoid building or playsand sand etc ... as it will eventually corrode the stands from the inside (even if you place the sand in an oven to dry)

was mentioned that lead shot is very good, however, this is very expensive)

best is to mail the manufacturer and ask for their recomendations

Use kiln dried sand from B&Q. No impurities or salts. Pick unburst bags from a dry spot. Maybe they think you are gonna drive your stands on holiday or take them for an MOT :D

If you're concerned about corrosion put a long thin plastic bag in the stand first and then fill it. I did this with my lad's Mission speakers and it worked great. I've been told that cat litter makes a good damping medium. Is Atabites anything like cat litter?
