In the spirit of the Funk and Soul threads...
This is a prime example of a good remix. Francois K on Sharon Redd Can you handle it. He builds the track using spoken word and instrumentation from the original and when it peaks at 6:40 there ain't nothing I like it. :)

Love the can you handle it remix, I play that a lot. A few guys seem to lay claim to that mix.

I like the Danny Krivit remixes and John Morales.

This is Krivit with the old Love is the message track by MFSB

I've always been more partial to European disco tunes:

Moroder is the absolute king. Apart from "I Feel Love", he made some massive four to the floor-fillers.

Cerrone's "Supernature" is anopther cracking LP-side long disco onslaught.

I think this is one of the bands that got me interested in synth music.

Nice.
One of my favourite European tunes but much later than above:
Tullio De Piscopo - Stop Bajon

WTF is happening to this place? Soul, Funk and NOW Disco!?!?!?

It used to be full of old farts proclaiming their love for Kate Bush!

This thread is right up my street....

Let's start with a newish track that harks back to the day....

Amazingly it's from the end of last year and not 1979!

Off for a cup of tea, I will be back........

Party time.

In the groove.

Feets don't fail me now.

Till the morning light appears 'I'll be pushin' on'.

Or is the greatest boogie remix the Paul Hardcastle mix of D-Train "you're the one for me"? There's a lot of weak Boogie but the crossover into Freestyle was interesting and kept me in dj work for a while. Buying most releases on Prelude helped.

Get dancin'

No Smokey

Too much falsetto for some

Gladys in all her throaty magnificence. Easily the best singer at Motown, just a shame she didn't look like Diana rather than a teacher, then she may have been given more of the best tunes by Berry:

Something of an acquired taste this and she certainly dances like a drummer:

Meanwhile back in Bed-Stuy:

Oh for a longer version of this:

My all time favourite:

And Walter Gibbons gives it a superb remix; I kind of assume that ths would be played before bringing in the Tom Moulton mix in because it builds so well.

Just going through my vinyl rips...nice edit of Diana Ross..the piano becomes a little repetitive...could have done with a real Player.

Ahead of its time...later sampled by Todd Terry so a lot of people think it is a House track.

The Walter Gibbons mix is looser, jazzier, weirder and not as dancefloor friendly:

The Todd Terry:
