I have a little G&W TW J1 headphone amp.

It was cheap and sounded pretty good. Not bad even as a preamp into my
Class A, fully differential, Triode, Push pull tube amp.
Having seen a modded one on Ebay I decided to copy the mods and see the effect.
First up was new signal cable, a motorised 'blue' alps pot - Pretty minimal change to the sound quality.
Next up was a change of all Electrolytics to Oscon - Subtle but noticeable change, bit cleaner sound.
Then the power reg diodes, 8 cheapie round ones changed for Vishay Hexfreds HFA04TB60SPBF - Huge difference in overall clarity, detail, bass and high frequency response.
To start with it sounded pretty clinical but either I'm getting used to it or the caps are burning in.
Anyway I am amazed that the Hexfreds could clean things up sooo much for such a simple mod.
