Denon 103r - Any first hand experience?

I had a 103r modified to play mono by Soundsmith with a metal strip as loading.
Broke a cantilever and Expert will not touch it.
Not sure that I use sufficient mono vinyl to justify of cost of sending to Soundsmith for repair.
Playing mono cartridge brings incredible results.

Had a 103r with broken cantilever repaired with an elliptical tip by Soundsmith. Tried it in the original body, an alloy one and a wooden one. The wooden is by far the best; removes some of the hardness and when combined with a heavy arm and a touch of damping it tracks everything. Well recommended!

103r.. hmm..
i did all sorts of things to optimise it to my 3012 series II based on some 'expert' advice:
Arm rewired, re bearinged, MG10 headshell, ebony spacer (between cartridge n hedshell), heavier brass counterweight and tracker weight to increase mass further.
Tried to optimise everything, and i still didnt like it as much as a V15 III in another arm and tt.
I ve had it with the 103r. Am giving mine away.

then i put back the original weights on the 3012 and put in an old Ortofon SL15Q in a SME headshell.
Theoretically not right for this arm but it sounds excellent and trounces the V15.
