yeah, but what size are the pixels?

i bet you it won't beat a leica with summicron 50.

The pixels will be 10 μm, which is a little bigger than the pixels in the very low noise Nikon D3 (8.45 µm pixel pitch). Big, low noise pixels are what you want in such a telescope, the exact opposite of what you find in the typical 10MP point-n-shoot.

Excellent gigapixel image here (ok, so the actual image isn't there, at least not available for download in all its pixelly splendor, but it's interesting nonetheless).
 
At what point will we need no more pixels because the human eye can't distinguish?

Kilo, Mega, Giga, Tera, Peta ....
