Jeremy Vine: privileged malcontent

Many here seem to have a lightweight opinion of our lovely Jeremy. He is ideally suited to the Light programme (or R2 as it is now known).
If it's Robin Day you're looking for try the Home Service but it might be a bit late.

Not sure about the malcontent bit actually.

He probably got going due to his posh background but he must be quite happy with how he has played it. After all he is a bit of a dimwit and therefore lucky to have made progress.

I should imagine he feels quite content with his mastery over the bbc.
Different presenters can be like Marmite. Some are akin to fingernails on a blackboard but I must be the odd one on this forum who actually enjoys the jv show on R2.

It fits in with my lifestyle disi!

Sorry, don't agree with the JV hate here. He does what he's paid to do, and does it very competently. He's an empathetic interviewer who gives people enough rope to hang themselves when required.

I listen to nothing but Radio 2 which is on about 12 hours a day 7 days a week. A superb station! The Elaine Page Show does have to be switched off though I'll concede...
A very wide range of music, regular live sessions, specialised folk, country, blues and jazz shows on week night evenings and fab soul, disco and funk on a Sat night.

Vines alright but the medical problems bits and folks ringing in in tears remembering a lost love one claimed by cancer etc are not what I want to hear... I kind of feel sorry for him having to remain "BBC neutral" when some swivle eyed, bat shit mad Little Englander phones in to rant about how brexit will restore the empire etc..

The Radio 2 shows by Huey Morgan, Liza Tarbuck, Craig Charles and Ana Matronic imo are all generally excellent however the daytime DJ's are dire.

Whenever I see the thread title I'm reminded of The Fall's 'Free Range':

This is the spring without end
This is the summer of malcontent
This is the winter of your mind'
