    Blu-Ray player as CD transport.

SACD players do not output DSD (the format of SACD) as this was an original part of the SACD specification. Some players will perform a conversion to PCM. In general, do not expect a digital out from a SACD player when playing SACDs. There are some exceptions, but these tend to be from...

    Blu-Ray player as CD transport.

Something to be aware of. Many DVD/Blue Ray players output 48kHz as opposed to 44.1kHz. Not a problem for most DACs, but it does show that the signal has been processed by the player. Thus comparing a CD player digital out to BluRay digital out may not be quite comparing apples with apples.

Mains IEC Connectors, I never realised !!

@thommy. You really do need to listen to the people here who do actually know what they're talking about. It seems as if you don't. Seriously, don't muck about with stuff that you think you know about, when really you don't have a complete understanding. I would suggest that you have a properly...

Puzzling results with ATC SCM50ASLT loudspeakers vs. previous system

The two aspects of any hifi system that effect sound quality are the speakers and their interaction with the room. The OP has had a dramatic change of speakers. This change seems not to be producing the expected SQ improvement. This will be mostly down to the ATC's presentation; quite some way...

    B&O are at it again...

The best' sound I've ever experienced from a home system was created by the B&O Beolab 90 system. Absolutely stunning. OK, it's very expensive and well beyond what I can afford, but it certainly dispels the notion that B&O is all about style over substance.

    induction hobs

This sounds just like simmerstat control. I doubt the OP's unit is faulty. Trying to prove not fit for purpose would be futile, imo. Perhaps take the restocking fee on the chin and swap for a better quality unit?

The journey continues (the AN-Js are herešŸ«£)

As you've acknowledged; these will work very nicely with an AN amp. I would advise that, whilst saving, you use an EL84 based valve amp. There are a number available, but Icon Audio used to offer a Stereo 20 which is EL84 based. I had one many years ago, when I had AN speakers. Sounded very...

    Streaming: Qobuz, DLNA, UPnP etc

I'm also a user of Smart Hub 2. Plug 'n' play and rock solid. Just done a speed test; 20ms ping, 70mbps down, 15mbps up. Very rural location on east coast of Lincs. FTTC only. Fibre to premises in this part of the world will come after I've tottered off! Music and video streaming, plus 2 ipads...

    Fence

Don't guess. Look at Land Registry documents for boundaries and any relevant covenants. Front garden is max 1m high I believe. If this is likely to be in any way confrontational, then I would suggest asking your local authority for advice.

[FS] How do I edit a FS listing here ??

^ This This is also a reason not to put price in thread title, or indeed any info which may be subject to change/rethink, etc.

    A bargain?

Seems like a reasonable price. Around Ā£1600 or so new. 50-60% for a good used example is reasonable . Don't forget that, like a car, as soon as the item is bought it becomes secondhand, however much it may or may not have been used.
