Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 digital DAC

The trial is free. Just try it. It will integrate with Tidal so you can stream. You can rip your CD's and store locally and also play via Roon. LP, it is magic, play as usual :)

If I were you I would buy Roon license, buy Intel NUC and install ROCK on it (it will be your core server) and buy Allo USBridge that toghether with S2D will be your Roon endpoint. Your tablet will be your Roon remote.

You set up allow exclusive mode in Windows for your DAC. In Foobar2000 you install WASAPI plugin and you remove all DSD plugins, replay gain etc. Select WASAPI Pro-ject as your output device. You can take a look at this Foobar2000 guide : http://www.fidelizer-audio.com/user-guide/ Or that one ...

I am sure WASAPI in exclusive mode is capable of bit perfect transmission.

I recommend this Because of exclusive mode. Foobar2000 will lock the device, then other application will try to use it as default device. Sometimes something might crush. So it is just good practice. Unless you want to listen to YouTube using dac. So what I do, I set Windows Sound schema to No...

WASAPI is built into Windows modern audio subsystem. In exclusive mode it offers bit perfect playback. Use it by default. ASIO was a must before WASAPI was introduced. The only reason to still use it is if you want to play DSD. Or you record music. For PCM playback use WASAPI. In Foobar2000, use...

WASAPI doesn't support DSD. PCM max input rate is 768kHz which means max DS256 over DoP. For DSD512 you have to use native mode.

I upsample using Roon to 32 bits and 705,6 or 768, streamer is Allo USBridge. No problem. I am able to stream native DSD 256. I was not able to find any music or samples in DSD 512 so I only tried up sampling however I don't have enough power on Roon center machine so it played only for few...

Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 digital DAC

I use PreBox S2 for a while now. I really like the box, I use it purely as DAC, feeding dedicated headphone amplifier and Beyerdynamics Amiron Home headphones. As I transport I use USBridge. After few weeks of testing and listening to a lot of different music I can recommend this as a very...

I don't know if anyone from here follows also Audio science review forum, but basically they do audio measurements. Amir, is willing to measure Pre Box, so if someone can live for a while without a DAC, would be interesting to see how this box measure :) (he lives in Seattle area).

Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 digital DAC

Do you know if this is one battery, so you use it and then charge overnight for example? Or dual batteries, so you can have it plugged all the time? Also, what is the battery capacity? How it is better then just standard PowerBank? And any news when it will be available? I really like the...

Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 digital DAC

I am still not sure about the power. What is the optimal power for this box from design perspective when we are using USB input? 1. Use clean USB over USB Input (something like USBridge with good LPS) 2. Use dedicated LPS with PreBox (EXT) even when USB is connected (INT)? And what is the...

From Pro-Ject FB site: "Hello Pawel, the bug has been confirmed and we're working on a solution. Beta software is not for endconsumers, sorry. Once the final version is here we will announce it. Stay tuned."

OK, got it. Well, I keep it. I am using it as a DAC, I hope those issues are "only" software/firmware issues. I am waiting what the support will answer. So far no response.
