    RIP Karl Wallinger

Spinning Bang! as I write. So many good memories. RIP Karl.

    How did I not know...

ISTR there’s a Gov’t Mule album of Floyd covers too. Not one of theirs I’ve heard, though they’ve done some interesting covers in the past. Probably more straight ahead than the stuff above though…

    Alternatives to Naim Nac5 cable?

+1. Can’t imagine reverting to naca5. Blacklink is excellent stuff.

Has anyone stepped into the gap left by the loss of David and Flashback?

HiFi: a rewarding hobby or dreaded affliction?

I don’t think I’ve ever really considered hi-fi a hobby. I simply enjoy listening to my music on a system that sounds good (to me). Other than a pair of headphones and an SBT, I can’t think of anything I’ve bought new since last century (and I suspect I’m younger than most here). Given that half...

    So what about DAPs then...?

For around 6 months of the year, a Sony NW-ZX300 feeding Beyer DT1350s is my only source of music. I’m sure the DT1350s would benefit from a separate headphone amp, but I’m reluctant to go down that road in the interests of not lugging extra gear around.

    Mark Lanegan RIP

Sad news indeed. Off to spin Blues Funeral. RIP

    Jackie Leven

Never did get to see the big man live, despite him living a few miles down the road and doing a few local gigs. One of my big regrets. I don’t normally bother with “collector editions” but I’ll be interested to hear the Mystery Supplement EP which I don’t think I’ve ever heard.

Gapless streaming solutions - local network as well over the web

Absolutely. Mine’s still in daily use.

Gapless streaming solutions - local network as well over the web

IIRC, some software would intentionally insert a gap of a couple of seconds between tracks, otherwise all tracks would play as one continuous track. There was also an issue when using a lossy format that you couldn’t get a seamless transition between tracks. Something to do with the encoding...

Aaargh! Missed Joni Mitchell set! :-//

I’ve bought from BurningShed several times and always had excellent service.

    Exposure

I bought an old X a couple of years ago as a stopgap while I was figuring out what to buy amp-wise. It’s been in my system ever since.

    Gary Clark Jnr, Glasto '16

I only recently checked him out, though I’ve known of him for some time. I don’t usually go for modern high-energy blues, but I make an exception in his case. His more recent blending of genres other than blues are worth investigating. This Land has become a firm favourite here.

Field Music Are At It Again!

This thread prompted me to dig out Measure - it's years since I listened to it, and it's the only album of theirs I've heard. I like it a lot more than I remember. They've released a lot more than I realized. Any recommendations on what to listen to next?

Guitar talk: acoustic, bass, classical, twelve string? You name it! Pt III

Wilko and Norman played my graduation ball back in the day. Wish I could remember who the drummer was! One of the more memorable gigs I attended.
