Landed a NAC102... what's the first mod to do?

On each channel change the 3 x 5k6 resistors adjacent to the polystyrene caps to 6k8.

Naim Audio power supply output voltages

Yep, all Naim power supplies for audio except the very new ones were +24v. Tolerance was 23.7 to 25.5 V.

London Marathon 2024 - what have I done..

Good luck with it. The training is far harder than the actual event in my experience as you have to run huge distances in the weeks leading up to it. I haven't done London, I did Amsterdam. Let the crowd carry you, and don't do what I did which was think "It's just a parkrun" 5km from the end as...

    Naim Nac 32 to 32.5

I've just found some old documentation and the conversion involved a new main PCB and DIN plug replacement. But you can modify the PCB tracks as JJ suggests.

    Active Crossovers, anyone dabbled?

I've done it. Redesigned the Naim 729 board from the NAC72 and later into a universal filter board. Added an extra supply rail, built a carrier board for 4 of them and made myself a SNAXO 2-4 equivalent. Technically I can put two back to back and make an additional band pass filter for a 3 way XO.

Flexible and home working and custom and practice

That was us, we were the UK branch of a US company wholly owned by a Japanese giant. The business was very LA-centric due to its nature so we rarely, if ever, had to interact with Tokyo.

Flexible and home working and custom and practice

In my last role this was drilled into us time and time again. Except that most of the team I worked with were in Los Angeles and us being London based meant that we'd have 30 mins of overlapping office time each day to get all our meetings done in. As it had to be remote this was a lot easier at...

Flexible and home working and custom and practice

I did the whole WFH full time during 20/21. We were able to and we had the means to keep in touch and do our jobs as a team. Senior management even said 'you can't put steam back in the bottle' regarding working practices, implying they were here to stay. Then we were told to come in at least 3...

    Desolder station choice

Still love the Duratool, but this video is worth a look if you're planning to buy one: https://hackaday.com/2024/04/07/comparing-desoldering-tools/

Naim Nap 110 power led Repair

If the green high wattage resistors are smoking then you have serious issues. It's nothing that can't be fixed but it will need a technician and test bench.

Another Naim CDi repair - with some questions...

In my experience the DAC chips fail far more often than the SAA7220. Just glue one on with superglue or a bit of epoxy. There are a couple of 5V regulators than run really hot but there's not much you can do about that.

Naim Nap 110 power led Repair

For the record, the LED resistor in the 110, SNAPS, Hicap etc is a 3k3. Don't put it back under a rubber sleeve ;)
