The John Westlake/Lakewest MDAC/FDAC, VFET and Detox

Thank you. That is the most encouraging post for quite some time... I signed up for FDAC, but I do not possess an MDAC. If anyone happens to have a spare one to sell (as I seem to recall that MDAC2 is a basically a drop-in replacement board -is that right?), then please PM me... Otherwise I...

Hi John, Could I please also be added to the email update group? Cheers, KevinNZ

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

Hi Tony I invested approx £4000-5000 for VFETs, FDAC and DETOX (of which I am one of those who still want to get one, even if it has a shoebox for a case!). I could trawl through endless bank statements to find exact dates & figures but 1) it is unlikely to get me anywhere and 2 ) I foresee...

JohnW: I'm also still in for a detox. I do not have the wherewithal to manufacture a case but I'm willing to take the gamble of someone who does being willing to sell me one. Would that be ok?

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111011)

Hi John, If it helps, I am also still interested in getting a detox. I don't care too much about the case, but I would need a case of some sort... Cheers, KevinNZ.

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111001)

Wow, that's great news. Do I need to do/confirm anything else to get on the waiting list?

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111001)

...sorry John, I should have mentioned that I don't actually own an MDAC -I use my CDQ just as a DAC. This presumably would mean I can't get the considerable benefit of clock-locking :(

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111001)

John, Yes, Touch screen UI. Is there a possibility that the streamer might be able to be shipped with Logitech Media Server capability? I'm afraid I'm not very well up on this sort of thing (although DanOfDanger is in NZ and has helped me before so whatever software it was to be shipped with, I...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111001)

Hi John Did I read correctly earlier that the streamer will "...work with any DAC via USB"? I currently stream to my Audiolab CDQ from a Squeezebox Touch via USB (EDO upgrade) but I am willing to bet that the new streamer would be better (due at the very least to it's Detox attributes). If you...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00111000)

1 x UK Detox for me please. BTW (I asked this before but it got lost) -will the streamer be compatible with my CDQ? Sadly it no longer reads disks -I just get "Reading Error". I'm using an SBT (hence the need for a Detox) but I wouldn't mind betting the streamer will have superior SQ... Thanks.

    MDAC First Listen (part 00110111)

Hi John. I do not actually own an MDAC -I'm using my CDQ as a DAC (I'm streaming off SD cards from an SBT Touch via USB). Will the streamer work inside my CDQ? If so, I'm in. Otherwise, I can happily pay another instalment towards DETOX :) FWIW I am sometimes forced to sell Pension Fund shares...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00101011)

John, I've noticed that with my car slot-loading player, there is a strip of either 'brush' type fillaments or a piece of material behind the slot (presumably to limit dust entering the unit). I no longer play original copies of my discs whilst driving because I noticed them getting...

    MDAC First Listen (part 00100111)

Wow John! This is all getting scarily exciting... Just out of interest, is there a possibility at least that advanced DSP could further improve the performance of the clock (w.r.t. jitter I suppose)..? Cheers, Kevin.
